NRBQ - Goofy Eclecticism ...
NRBQ (which stands for the tongue -in-cheek, "New Rhythm and Blues Quartet") have been recording and touring since their 1969 debut. While never hitting the big time, they've been entertaining their loyal cult following with their goofy brand of humor ( their songs have been featured on The Simpsons and Cartoon Network) and Wild eclecticism (They've covered artists as Diverse as Sun Ra, Thelonius Monk, and Elvis Presley. Their music ranges from Pop and Rockabilly to Blues and Free Jazz. Some of the music below reminds me of what would happen if Steely Dan got stuck in Mayberry, and had to jam with the Darlin family, and a local bar band, .
