Toni Braxton's financial woes are mounting after the R&B star allegedly fell behind with tax payments, according to a new report.

The singer and her estranged husband Kierston Lewis have been hit with a demand from U.S. tax officials, who filed a $396,000 lien against the couple on 26 March, reports the Detroit News.

Braxton and Lewis, who separated last year, are said to owe income taxes from 2007 and 2008.

Braxton is facing a number of financial difficulties - she is being sued by bank officials who claim she owes them $900,000 in loan payments. She was also reported to have defaulted on her mortgage payments last year.

have been a learning experience but i guess some get used to

Wasn't she doing a longterm Vegas gig,where she performs at the same venue every night? I thought she had made alot of money doing that Those gigs are lucrative.

You would have thought that the contractual mess she had with LaFace records would have made her more responsible/savvy with her finances. And I am sooooo tired of mfs who believe because they got a little celebrity status that they don't have to pay taxes. That goes for them Fortune 500 folks that you don't read about too.

I wonder if Keri was handling the finances because Toni isn't good with managing money. Now he's not there to handle the finances and things are going downhill. One of the reasons that couples divorce is because of financial disputes, so I wouldn't I be surprised. If the situation is this bad, then Keri should've stayed with Mint Condition. Quiting the group was a big mistake.
