Lil Wayne has launched a website from prison less than a month after he was jailed for gun crimes.

The rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, is serving a one year sentence after an incident in 2007 in New York, where police officers found a handgun on his tourbus.

The last fans heard from him was through a post on his Twitter account on the day he was jailed last month.

But the rapper has now set up his own website weezythanxyou.com featuring updates from his time in prison.

He wrote: "During my prison stint, I want my fans to know I love you. I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you," before adding: "The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done… you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do.

"I work out a lot because it helps pass the time. I read the Bible everyday. Jail didn’t make me find God, he's always been there. They can lock me up, but my spirit and my love can never be confined to prison walls."

Lil Wayne is currently serving time at New York's main jail complex, Rikers Island.

Weezy is in jail and can launch a website right in less than a month. Prince has been "Free" for years and still hasn't gotten it right. Oh the irony!!!

Unless it's a maximum security deal for murderers and rapists and such, prisoners often have some amount of access to the outside world, including the internet.

you can't create no damn website while in jail. in addition, there are laws against profiting from work created while in jail (or from profiting from your crimes). either way, his pr peeps are doing this and probably typing out letters/statements he sent to them via snail male. Or, what's probably what's really going on, they made the statement up themselves.

Some girl who made the most popular fan site for Drake made this new website for Wayne. I read about it on Twitter. He probably wrote the letter and sent it to her, then she posted it online.
