Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame mishap again

First of all, I would like to congratulate the HOF for acknowledging finally The Stooges and Genesis. Long overdue but well deserved. Also, I'll acknowledge the surprise entry of Jimmy Cliff. Only the second reggae artist(Bob Marley) into the HOF. But, the Hall gets a big ass up, thumbs down for their entry of ABBA into the Hall. Why? They suck beyond belief! Dancing queen my a**! Seriously! ABBA over Peter Frampton, Kiss, The Dramatics, Rick James, Janet Jackson, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, The Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang, Yes, Luther Vandross, Barry White, The Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, and Blue Oyster Cult. I don't know what they're seeing but they're sure not hearing. HOF you better wake up and put the true artist who deserve to be there in. Because of the admission of ABBA which brings down this class significantly, I give the Hall this year 3 stars out of 5. Maybe even 2 1/2 stars because they suck! Peace!
Peace and be wild!

ABBA were very influential. They practically invented Euro-Pop.

And their last album, The Visitors, is an Electro-Pop landmark.

Well, that's the thing about living in this great big world of ours: There are a lot of other people in the world who like artists you don't like, so, to some, the RRHOF got it right. As soon as they admit someone you like, there will be someone else hating that the artist you like was admitted. It all comes down to who you like and who you don't. Obviously, you don't like Abba, but, again, a lot of others people do. It's only natural, I guess, that you not like an artist or group that got in while someone you do like didn't. That's understandable and human. Though, I'm sure, some that you do like are already in the RRHOF. It's not realy a big deal though. It's all based on some group's opinion, isn't it? And we all have our opinions (smile).

Again until the likes of Joan Jett, Heart, Chicago, and Hall and Oates are even on the ballot i really dont feel bad for anyone not getting in yet.

I'm still trying to figure out how putting LL Cool J in the Hall would be a mishap...The man is only the flagship artist for the most important hip hop label of all time (Def Jam)...I'd put him in...

I don't think he did....But usually the Hall ushers in blues and jazz artists....And while I know Nat was a killer jazz piano player before he became known as a voicalist (dude was a genius on the keys), he is known more for his big ballads and '50s pop stuff....It's the same reason that Frank Sinatra is not in the Rock Hall of Fame...

Call me elitist but only the greats should be allowed in. The Beatles, Elvis, Jimi, The Boss, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, the Beastie Boys and people of that caliber. I don't mind them even putting in people from other genres like James Brown, who didn't have a lot of pure Rock and Roll elements in his music-- they should just rename it the music hall of fame anyway. The common thread connecting these guys are importance and impact. They are either innovators or atleast game-changers of music.

Acts like ABBA don't belong in the same sentence as those guys so they shouldn't get in. For me it's that simple. Making some pleasant songs or even chart-topping songs shouldn't be enough to get you in. Unfortunately, this is a subjective thing and there's no way to please everyone.

ABBA.... cool to me, they bolong cuz they have made perfect pop 1975-1981.

Pop music don't get any better than what ABBA did back then. So many well written pop classics, and at least 4 classic albums.

Oh and I really love Donna Summer, also.

Kiss and Alice Cooper they are a joke.

but..... a matter of taste... biggrin

They should be in... they did have a huge impact on music and the music industry at some point in history.

I think you should cry if Milli Vanilli get inducted. Abba is fine.

This is why people get voted in to the RRHOF:

One of the Foundation’s many functions is to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll by inducting them into the Hall of Fame.

People like Kiss, Motely Crue and so many others don't stand a chance. Yes, there are many that should be in that are not, but let's hope their day will come. In the meantime, folks like LL and Nas will never be on that stage. Bands like ABBA are there because of the criteria noted above. They only choose a small handful of inductees each year, so it obvious that many will never make it and some will have to wait years.

Kiss, Alice Cooper, and the New York Dolls should all already be in, like them or not. Motley Crue (one of many bands influenced by Kiss, and probably Alice, too), should be eligible soon.
