I understand what she is saying, even though its something, as a white man living in the UK, that is very much an American thing obviously. She does sound bitter, but not angry. I don't think she is a racist though.
To me, she is saying that all throughout slavery and through the 50's and 60's, black men and women stuck together. All the shit they put up with etc... Now she feels betrayed that in more recent times some black men in america are going with white women instead, whilst some of these black women are left rearing children alone etc.. I guess Jill feels somewhat slighted by this trend. Why are black men doing this? Why are they changing to white women? She mentions the media in general may have something to do with this and she may have a point. But if some black men are finding white women more attractive and desirable because of all the attension they get from hollywood etc.., why arn't black women feeling for white men, as they are also everywhere in the media aswell? Not really the point I know but just wondering? | |
