Reissuing two albums on one CD: YEA or NAY? My OCD doesn't like it. Even though it may save space on the shelf, I want separate discs for separate albums.

Hmmm, I don't think I have any of these. I only have things like the Curtis Mayfield -double feature reissues that had the cover art only for one of the releases, with a "less popular" album as an extra disc.
If it's not a properly done release, I'd rather get the mp3s from the net.

Anthology sets where entire albums are collected and condensed onto one or two discs falls into this category too.

I'm not a big fan of it either. Mostly because I like to look at each album as it's own book. Not to mention I love the packaging of original cds. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Devo has some:

Yeah I am all for that as long as they keep the original artwork intact and give us better coverart than the Devo ones

I am for it as long as the albums are combined in original consecutive chronological order.
I have seen some scary twofers that paired two albums from 2 totally different eras; mostly bootlegs for Beatles or related members but still.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm particularly sensitive against smooshing two things into one because my parents used to do that with my and my brother's birthdays every year.

I like when the twofers have the one cover on one side of the liner notes, then the other cover on the other side. I prefer that to two shrunken down album covers, or heaven forbid NEW art.

Someone on this forum hates twofers.... I think it's funkpill.
When I bought CD's for the most part I avoid them. I hated when they put two CD's on one.

Here's another one I passed up and bought the individual discs instead:

Better than the bullshit I'm rockin'. I never buy those Millennium comps. Too lazy looking. If you're gonna get a Runaways comp, why not go for the gold?: http://www.hip-oselect.co...95A64A3BD4 Although the albums appear to be out of order looking at the tracklisting.

When I was much more passionate about collecting CDs, it was usually a huge NAY.
But in the virtual world I just separate with their own hi-res artwork and pretend like it never happened.

But in the virtual world I just separate with their own hi-res artwork and pretend like it never happened. Agreed. It's all about the music for me. I prefer each album on its own, but I'd rather get a twofer than a long wait. I'd take some late Gap Band twofers in a heartbeat... "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

You know there are times when there's just no way around it. I wanted this album so badly... ...Eddie Harris - I Need Some Money (1974) Couldn't find it anywhere except as a twofer with... ...David "Fathead" Newman - Bigger & Better (1968) Not really a bad deal. ...Eddie Harris - I Need Some Money (1974) Couldn't find it anywhere But that photo itself looks like a reissue with album shrunk down into a border for a CD cover Are you surrrre you can't get it on its own? That title track is tight, btw.

Great topic.
For me it totally depends. In many cases, it's the only thing available. One of my favorite artists of all time is Curtis Mayfield, and most of his Impressions back catalog is only available in twofers. Seeing that those early albums were only about 30 minutes each, it doesn't bother me at all to put two one one disc. (Especially like Cinnie mentioned, when they are back to back sequential releases). But for me personally, it also depends on the packaging. If they are going to include liner notes/credits/lyrics etc...then count me in as a fan of the individual release. If it just the music with an information-less inlay card, putting two records on one CD doesn't bother me at all.

Poor Jackie Fox was written out of the film and replaced with a generic bassist because she threatened to block the movie's release after she wasn't consulted during filming.

But in the virtual world I just separate with their own hi-res artwork and pretend like it never happened. I did that with my Super Heroines anthology. The tracks were the first two albums in their entirety plus two songs from their third album which I already had on a separate CD. I imported the first two albums' tracks into iTunes then separated them and replaced the artwork with scans of the old album covers I found online. It was the very first time those tracks were released on CD so it was either buy the anthology collection or don't get those first two albums on disc.
