I always liked that tune! I remember first hearing his music in the early 80's-- (at first, because of the look, I kept confusing him with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy)--I also remember that he was one of the few Black artists getting airplay on MTV around '83--but then, his sound was always purely Rock nRoll, rather than the Funk/Rock of Prince or Rick James... ... Yes!
Saw him in Dallas, TX at some summer festival thing back in 1987. Also liked his earlier song Goodbye Saving Grace. Maybe somebody can find that one. But yes always loved Holy War. I always dug "Life Takes A Life". That was the vid MTV played on heavy rotation back then. As soon as I saw the 'fro, headband and Strat I naturally made the "H" assumption.
But he had his own guitar style that seemed a little more modern (for that time). I think his voice had a little Micheal McDonald flair too. "Wishes" was a good record. Not a whole lot of stuff about him on the "tube".

First read about Jon in Guitar World in 87'. Later he was in a band called the Barefoot Servants for a while. Not up on much of his recent activity...he's got MySpace page up though. Great player, too bad he's not more widely recognized.
