Bonus R&B Song Of The Day(1/21/03): Patti Austin- In The Heat Of Heat This one is one of my favorite Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis tracks. This came out in 1985 from the album Gettin Away With Murder. This song boosts a great hypnotic groove and Patti really gives this song the peformance it needs. She sounds so convicing on lines such as "I'm not easily hot..you just hit the spot". This song used to be used on a lot of love scenes on soap operas around the time it came out. The album didn't go anywhere, but this song used to hit hard.
A great song from a great vocalist. "In the heat of heat, the heat gets so hot...HOT "The passion takes control!!!" Enjoy!!!

The funny thing is,Patti herself doesn't really like this song.I guess she felt the lyrics were too steamy.A year or so after it came out,she began making jazz/Quiet Storm music and said that her pop days were behind her.
The song is cool though. It boasts a breezy, lazy groove and a sultry arrangement. But,to be honest,I prefer the Narada Michael Walden-prodcued songs that Patti did back then.

yeah I know Patti has dissed it.I remember back in the late 80's when She came on Donnie Simpson's Show&Dissed the Song&took a shot at Prince talking about the industry wants Artists with Purple Capes&Programmed Music blowing up or something too the effect.I liked Her stuff with Quincy Jones better.the stuff with Narada Michael Walden overall was as Funky as the theme song too "Silver Spoons" IMHO.Narada is a Badd Mother but Dude went super cheesy Pop in the 80's.The song is cool though. It boasts a breezy, lazy groove and a sultry arrangement. But,to be honest,I prefer the Narada Michael Walden-prodcued songs that Patti did back then. mistermaxxx

This is one of my favorites in the Jam/Lewis catalog. I also like the track "Summer is the coldest time of Year" from that album.
