Updated: Janet Jackson Visits The Tonight Show (Mar 18)

March 12, 2010

For the first time since Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009, Janet Jackson will visit a late-night network talk show when she appears on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on March 18.

Jackson will join Leno for an interview, however, she will not perform.

The musical guest that night will be Australian artist Orianthi, who was actually Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist during rehearsals for his “This Is It” tour, a trek which sadly never made it to the London stage.

Janet Jackson’s “Tonight Show” appearance will mark her second network interview since her brother’s death after sitting down with ABC’s Robin Roberts in November.

After everything that's happened, she still gives that twunt Jay Leno the time of day.

^^^ I think Jay has been kinder to her than Letterman. Plus it might just be a west coast thing, instead of flying to the east coast for something.

I think this was posted recently. I noticed on my DVR that it's already set to record. Either way, good reminder.

Interesting that Orianthi is scheduled to perform as well. She was the blond guitarist who was seen in the MJ movie This Is It, and is an artist in her own right, although newer on the scene as a solo artist. Looks like Janet will probably just speak, not perform, to promote Why Did I Get Married, Too?.

Jay's nice to Janet, but he was never ever nice to Michael. To put all that aside in the name of promotion before was understandable, but now if he's still proclaiming the things he says about MJ, surely it's a matter of principle not to give him the time of day. I guess she's desperate or unaware.

Yeah, so she'll go around promoting and will ask not to be asked about MJ and it'll just be the giant elephant in the room like it always is.

Why does she NEED to be asked about MJ? What is she going to say that she hasn't said already? She had a very open interview with Robin Roberts earlier this year, and talked about her brother. How long does she have to answer questions about her dead sibling? Who wants to beatdeadhorse ? She finally gave her final answers on the Super Bowl thing as well, saying "this is it, no more". It's time for her to move on as best she can, and the fans need to let her do that.

As far as Leno not being nice to MJ, he's a comedian. He's said things about Janet, and MJ and Prince, the President (at any given time) and everyone else. People understand the difference between bashing someone, and comedy. That's what good comedians do. They don't talk about their period, or sex or whatever....they talk about the current events, the people, etc.

Janet doesn't owe anyone anything regarding her brother as far as talking or explanation. It's the same dumb argument about "Why hasn't Prince said something about MJ's death?" Why does he need to say anything??? They weren't friends, they didn't hang out all the time.

Leno might just have the respect, on a late night talk/comedy show, on his own accord to not ask about her brother other than a general "how are you doing lately?" Letitgo.

No, Jay Leno's attacks on MJ went further than comedy. They were slanderous, nasty and always said with pure vitriol rather than just someone looking for a punchline. I'd barely call him a comedian anyway, just a bad cue card reader.

If you expect her in depth interview to be the end of the same questions being asked then you're surely kidding yourself.

Anyway, above all I strongly dislike Jay Leno and think he's a nasty little twat of a man. I liked Conan, I think Kimmel is OK, Letterman is overrated but fine, Craig Ferguson is OK. I just do not get why Jay Leno has a career though and it pisses me off that Janet and Prince always go on his show.

clapping I wonder how long is the media going to continue to gauge her appearances and interviews based on the timeline of his death. "For the first time since Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009, Janet Jackson will visit a late-night network talk show when she appears on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on March 18." and "Janet Jackson’s “Tonight Show” appearance will mark her second network interview since her brother’s death after sitting down with ABC’s Robin Roberts in November."

I know they have to draw their viewers but damn. What about the movie she's promoting?

I won't rehash, or hijack the thread, into the late night wars and who is better. My statement was not in defense of Leno. It was about any interviewer, tv host or journalist or reporter who feels the need to bring up the same shit every time.

Reread what I typed. I never said I expected anything from the interview with Leno, especially something "in depth". As far as other people asking her, it WILL be the end if she refuses to dwell on a hard and sore subject. We have all somehow put MJ in this realm of being non-human, so we feel we have this right to know everything about his life, his family, and his family MUST talk about him to appease us. It's ignorant of people to think that, and frankly it's arrogant as all fuck. Janet will put an end to the same questions by one simple rule: Not answering them. She's done it before, and if she so wishes, she will do it again.

How long will Russell Crowe be asked about throwing a phone?
How long will Janet be asked about her titty?
How long will Justin be asked about Britney?
How long will Prince be asked about a Revolution reunion?
How long will Madonna be asked who she's dating now?
How long will people keep giving a shit about the private lives of PEOPLE, who happen to be popular?

"The first time since..." As if she's been in hiding or something. It's a cheap ploy by NBC. I'm surprised they're not doing commercials "this Thursday, a very special Tonight Show....", like it's a damned ABC After School Special.

Wasn't her first interview after her brother's death with Robin Roberts? Whoever it was, it ain't Leno.

The answer to those was pretty damn long. Anyway, I only posted because I disapprove of Jay Leno being chosen. I don't get why that man is a star. Not funny, never was, never will be and he's a shit interviewer too.

Janet can't say too much further about Mike, she said her piece, annoyed his fans with talk about interventions which probably never happened, in latter years they weren't that close really. She barely new him in his last years. Showing up when she needed to, saying the right thing, trying to appease folk that can't be fooled. Nice try Jan.

nuts

So just because Leno dissed MJ it pisses you off that Janet and Prince go on his show!? The world doesn't revolve around MJ. I repeat- the fucking world doesn't revolve around him. Just because he got into some shit with Leno doesn't mean Janet shouldn't go on his show. Janet is her own person with her own career. She went on his show in 2004 and that was during his trials, am I right? No one said shit then. Move on. You don't have to watch. The people that are watching are interested in HER and what she has to say about HER career and life NOT about her siblings. I could give a rat's ass about that. They didn't even talk much because he was so into his drugged up life LOL! It will just be the same things she said on Robin Roberts. You know the special she did that over 6 million tuned into. If your answers weren't answered then. Tough luck.
