Love For Earth Wind & Fire's I Am album! Pulled out an old favorite today that I haven't listened to in a long time because the sun is out and I need something to dance to while I clean house. The selection is Earth Wind & Fire's "I Am." Love every song on the record! Great music, wonderful lyrics, love the funk/disco and the horns--immaculate! Although I love all of their albums this is a sentimental favorite. You can't feel bad when you listen to Earth Wind & Fire. What is your favorite Earth Wind & Fire album?

For many years,I said that 'All N' All' was my favorite EW&F album. But around five years ago,I started listening to 'I Am' alot and I decided that it's now my favorite! With strong, infectious songs like "Can't Let Go","Let Your Feelings Show","Wait","In The Stone" and "You And I",this is truly their finest album.

'I Am' feels like a "summer" album to me.The songs are bright and summery. This is a fun album. There aren't any heavy message songs here and that's fine. It's just a feel-good-all-over album.

I prefer it over "I Am",,,,all for the strength of Love's Holiday Love 'I Am' but comparing to the albums preceeding it, its slicker(I know its absured because most of EW&F's music is slick in production) but this one doesn't have the spontaneity of the earlier albums. Still this is my FAVE from the album...

I agree,'I Am' is slicker than the albums that came before it.The songs are so good, though, that it's hard to hold that against them I think it's their most consistent album.Every song could have been a single.

My favorite "Spirit".
Though, "Love's Holiday" is one of the most sexist R&B/Soul songs ever.... gives me chivers.

I love this album. I can't decide between I Am and That's The Way of The World. Both are wonderful albums.

I love "I Am" but my favorite album from them is "Raise!". "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

"I Am" is my all time favorite but there are so many great songs... my favorite song is "September" which I have on the Vol.1 hits--whenever I have gone through bad patches in the past I always play this and instantly feel better! Takes you back to better times and a summer-breeze-I-can-do-antyhing feeling!

I AM is definitely a favorite, but I love selected tracks from their next album from 1980. Some cuts could've easily been leftover tracks from the "I AM" sessions. For a double album, the cd is rather cheap. If you don't have it, give it a shot. The songs, "You", "Sailaway", and "Win Or Lose" are just fantastic. Incidentally, my jam from "I AM" (pardon the rhyme) is Let Your Feelings Show. [Edited 3/13/10 17:20pm] Katie Kinisky: "So What Are The Latest Dances, Nell?"

Diana sounds fresh today. I Am is my favorite EWF album. These
cats were in a zone with this album. I could name 4 that are right behind this one. I also dig That's the Way of the World, All n All, Raise, and Powerlight. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I suck at this stuff with my favorite artist. This is like one of my all time favorite bands. My older brother hip me to them when I was a kid.
My favorite is probably "Gratitude". Those live arrangements were/are classic. Maurice funky vocals were on point. What's not to love. Not to mention the dope studio track at the end, "Can't Hide Love". But I hear you guys on the others. You really can't go wrong with their stuff.

It certainly does. It's a great song.I bet it was left off the 'I Am' album because of its similarity to "You And I".They should have placed it on 'Faces'. "Where Do We Go From Here" is another excellent outtake from 'I Am' that they should have placed on 'Faces' (a good album that could have used a few more great tunes, imo). ... The Promise cd Speaking of 'The Promise'....did you know that two tracks from that CD ("Where Do We Go From Here" and "Dirty") are actually outtakes from 'I Am'? Both tunes were recorded in 1978.Interestingly,the 2003 version of "Where Do We Go From Here" uses Philip Bailey's original vocals from 1978...they only updated the music (slightly).

agreed, one of those perfect albums my fave EWF? still can't decide, but "I am" would be amongst my top three, no doubt but "All'n'all" will always have a special place with me, together with Stevies SITKOL this was THE pivotal album in my life and heavily shifted my musical preferences and taste when I was around 11 or 12 years old . [Edited 3/17/10 6:06am] Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

That album is superb! It's in my Top 5. Nine songs and when 'Spirit' ends you don't say, 'Wow that was short'! Artist and recorde companies need to rethink quality vs. quantity. Stop with the interludes! Yea, E,W & F made it a signature but their music was excellent. If your music sucks all these interludes do piss people off more.

I don't have a problem with a interlude that's done right, I do however have a problem with those damn skits on every gangsta, pranksta, wanksta rap cd. Thanks Prince Paul, you started that ish!.
