Kasi Lemmons is EXACTLY who i thought about when i found out this film was being made. Tyler should learn from Precious, have a HAND in it but leave the directing to others. Kasi would SO KILL this!!! seems like cats have forgotten about her

Exactly because Tyler can't direct his way out of a paper bag.

I'm contemplating a facebook fan page about this subject. Perry must me stopped by any means necessary.

Cha know, with you, there was a hint of wishful thinking. (Chalk it up to me finding a mate who is just as passionate about music as I.) With Perry, HELL NO! That man is soo talentless he will have to give back his queer-card when he comes out.

Aw, thanks, Nick, that's really really sweet of you smile

Yes, I would rather he not be gay - the straights can have him! falloff

But I DID get a kick out of this comment from a Janet fan who thinks they're bumping fuck parts:

I've never heard of a supposedly gay man be that "protective" of any woman.....

falloff

What I hate most is that, he uses the "black card" in a way that Spike Lee never has or never will need to. It pains me that Roger Ebert retracted his zero star review for Diary. You can acknowledge the cultural relevance of a film without giving it a critical pass. Perry appears to dismiss critical thinking because he feels his audience is getting what they want. Well, McDonalds offers what their clientèle want but that doesn't make their food healthy.

Say what you will about Spike Lee but he is always striving for artistry (despite overreaching at times). I don't even know what Perry is reaching for (beyond the toilet bowl) but Oprah should be ashamed for pimping him to the masses. Here Oprah sulks in the public's reaction to a Beloved and instead of challenging the masses, she embraces a hack like Perry. sigh

He's movies are mostly for highly religious, southern black folks. giggle Kidding, but in al seriousness, I just think its annyoing how this man has yet to grasp the concept of directing a good film whatsoever. I can see why Spike Lee doesn't like him and thinks his movies are a coonery. lol Maybe if Perry go rid of all the religion references, it will be a little better.

Well, considerin the fact that she was with Big ass head Jermaine Dupri and James DeBarge, I won't be surprised if she was screwing Mr. Perry, although I kind of thought he was gay...not that it matters just saying.

I'm really excited about this movie and hope janet continues to focus on her acting career. Though I like all her music, I don't want the number of "flop albums" to overshadow her hit ones, so maybe it's better she's taking a break from music.

I checked out reviews of the book and am planning to buy it soon.

eek at the title

confused

It's a stageplay turned book and now has a film adaption.

My only concern is Tyler Perry directing and Mariah's horrible acting. Thankfully, there are other strong actresses to hide it.

This is kind of manager if you read the book. If Tyler ruins this - people will be out for blood.

were;nt you repeatedly arguing that mariah isn't black in the janet thread?

and he better do it right. the play is held in very high esteem.

His movies are alright to me. Is he a Carl Franklin or Michael Schultz? No, clearly not. But he isn't Method Man or Eddie Murphy either.

i've only seen one of his movies, and it really did not do it for me. i thought it was pandering, and i really did not enjoy his writing or directing at all.

i love the shit outta the play though and the cast is DAMN promising. i will go see it, and i pray he doesn't fuck it up.

or maybe it's because your shade is about as soft and gentle and patchy as the shade of a willow tree sapling.

it's okay... someday you'll grow up to be a big tree.
