Personally I think Gaga looks much better these days then during her first album.

I like Lady GaGa but she lacks originality. I would like to see her do songs with true meaning and feeling.Just because you do pop/dance music does not mean you should dumb down your music. I don't want her to be super serious but I think she needs depth in her music.

I can only assume you haven't really looked at her lyrics or listened to her material. Is Paparazzi a "dumb" song that lacks true meaning and feeling? Beautifuldirtyrich? Hell, even Poker Face has some wit and depth to it.

GaGa's output has been extremely consistent since she first appeared on the scene in April 2008. She continues to release incredibly well-constructed pop songs. She writes her own material, she plays her music, she's a strong vocalist - and people still complain.

The Fame Monster also shows a lot of growth from her first album, which is promising. As she continues to diversify her sound, I'm interested to see what is in store for her. She's definitely one of the most electric musical personalities to emerge in the past decade.

I have looked at her lyrics. I do love "Paparazzi" but it is not the most meaniful song ever. She has a lot of wit but no real depth in my opinion. I don't believe music needs to be super serious all time but at some point I think an artist needs to have some songs with depth in them.

I assume you had nothing of importance to add, then. shrug

Anyhoo, GaGa must be doing something right, considering she's sold over 8 million copies worldwide in this climate - and Ms. Arie has nothing better to do than whine about her.

So what? You are the one who claims she does have depth although she only has One album and one EP out. I am expected more growth from her the next time around. She has been getting praised as if she had ten album out.

It could also be said that Gaga is the one hitting nerves. She's doin her thing, it's everyone else who's bent out of shape and feels the need to take some stand or make a judgment.

I am glad people feel she is exciting. For me she is not exciting. I stick with what I said. Let's see if you think she is so exciting when she releases another album.

I don't think the point was her passing judgement per se though, certainly not in the same vein as Nippy and Donny, I mean she already voiced her admiration of Lady GaGa(which many in this thread shrugged of), but at the same token, she's concerned by some of the images in GaGa's videos.

Now WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT? lol People are preparing to go to war on India's ass, you'd think she pulled the trigger on some toddler.

Now, its inevitable that GaGa will expect some controversy from her videos(hell, I'm even SURE that she welcomes it) and in that case, India's comments are just the feedback that GaGa wants.

Who gives a fuck what India Arie has to say? If she thinks Gaga is all image, then she's clearly much more ignorant than she presents herself to be. Someone tell this bitch to sit the fuck down, know her roll, and shut her goddam mouth. bored2

SHE IS ALL IMAGE!

Fuck! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. How can so many people be that easily led by a flashy video and weird clothes? The Gag's so-called music is negligible. Let her be a visual artist or a performance artist all she wants. But anyone trying to hang a tag that says musician on her needs their head examined and their ears cleaned out.

India Arie = Real Music
Ga Ga = Negligible Music

As for India being too self righteous....who cares...but her Music is straight and deeply from the heart....her talent is way above anything out there right now in the RnB scene....

You need to get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. What the fuck is REAL MUSIC, huh?

And which authority says India Arie is for suremore talented than Gaga? Singing? Instruments? Pretentiousness? Haircuts? What?

Boring music =/= real music. Please.

I will not go anywhere...what kind of comment is that anywayz? U shouldn't take it to much to heart..Ga Ga is not worth it..she is just a pop artist, not to be taken to seriously, really..and for all people stating that she is a musician, which i don't deny...the fact that she is a musician..doesn't mean she is a good one....

See this is the problem with the internet... ppl always think ur mad. I'm NOT angry, this is just how i speak.

But ur comment was pretentious and reeked of music snobbery. These comments about "real music" need to stop.

The word "pop" is short for "popular." If ur statement stands, popular music is not what u consider to be so-called "real music." The tracks on Purple Rain are not real music because they were popular... "What's Goin On" is not real music because it is popular. If India Arie scores a number one hit song, it will no longer be real music, because it will be popular... according to you.

Well, I think it's pointless and a bit over the top for anyone to be preparing to go to war with a celebrity over their criticisms of other celebs. Not saying folk don't, unfortunately. But India's been around a bit, she should know by now that if you're gonna make comments on someone with a strong fanbase, you're gonna get backlash. I'm not saying it's all gonna be civil or even make sense (backlash, not disagreement). I'm just saying you should expect it.

I can only speak for myself and for me what came across as self-righteous and critical (rather than concern, which sure she's entitled to) was the tone of her tweets.
Now, it may not have been her intention that her tweets to come off as judgmental but that it the chance you take when you broadcast your thoughts in short written statements like that onto the internet.

And I agree on Gaga wanting controversy. Of course she does. It was the same back in the day with folk like Madonna and Prince. They paved the road for what Gaga is doing today.
