The only song I would say that has some lyrical substance is "Speechless" and even that is disjointed lol. Most of her songs are disjointed actually. I can get what India is saying. But this just proves that anything you can say can be misconstrued on there.

I was listening to it last night and thinking the same thang lol

The fanaticism over Lady Gaga on this board is almost laughable. This is what Living Colour was talking about in the song "Cult Of Personality".
Now I've stated before that I'm not the biggest India Arie fan because her music bores me. I was also one of the first people to post about Lady Gaga and post up her video for "Just Dance" before she became the huge sensation that she is now. I remember having only a few responses from that thread from the same people.
Suffice to say, I liked Lady Gaga's vibe when she dropped her first single.
That being said:
YOU MUTHA F*CKAS are CRAZY.
All homegirl said was that while she thinks Gaga is talented, the material she is pushing forth is not in the same class as what she's capable of doing.
You know what? She's right.
Just Dance is about her being f*cked up.
Poker Face is a metaphoric look at a man and a woman's relationship in comparison to a casino
Bad Romance - obvious.
Telephone - superficial man/woman B.S.
Paparazzi - superficial paparazzi B.S.

Its not like this chick is cranking out meaningful songs of substance. Its pop music. She's doing her thing but she's NOT using her talent to say anything meaningful. People are attacking India as if she just spat pure fire at Lady G.
She basically, in a somewhat indirect way, said that Gaga is doing pop fluff when she's capable of more.
Ya know what?
She's right.
It doesn't mean that Lady G SHOULD do anything differently; it just means that if she wanted to, she COULD. But the fact is, she ISN'T.
The truth ain't always petty, but it doesn't detract from Lady Gaga at all.

Lady GaGa is busy out there making great pop music. There's nothing wrong with great pop music in my eyes. I listen to GaGa much more than I do India. I don't look down on GaGa's output simply because she is "capable of more" (whatever that means, it's certainly something different to everyone). Her artistry has already shown significant progression from The Fame to The Fame Monster, and I'm very interested to see what she'll do next.

I still think LoveGames is Gaga's best title ever (so far). cool

Now if she could just leave The Baphomet-inspired gimmicks at home.....

I'm sorry, but THIS is very difficult for me to just "get over it" when there is too many people that do NOT understand why this was a bad idea.

Donny Osmond is upset about Lady Gaga video
Singer says he’s against censorship, but wouldn’t want his child to watch it

Access Hollywood
updated 3:09 p.m. PT, Thurs., March. 25, 2010
LAS VEGAS - Donny Osmond isn’t happy with Lady Gaga’s new “Telephone” video, which features Beyonce.

The racy video — the full length of which features Gaga in a womens’ prison and sees the pop star kissing another female inmate, writhing about in a prison yard, dancing in a bikini and a bit of semi-nudity (her bum) — has angered the most recent “Dancing with the Stars” champ.

“I’m all for freedom of speech and against any form of censorship, but all I know is that I’m a parent and I’m upset about this,” Osmond said on Wednesday during his “Donny Osmond Show” on radio.
The video also includes Beyonce, who duets with Gaga on the song, but Beyonce is not featured in the same kind of scenes as the boundary-pushing Gaga. Osmond didn’t, however, make a distinction between the two women’s scenes in the video.

“I wouldn’t want my child to watch this video. Would you? What do you think? Should these two extremely gifted female role models for millions of young girls, maybe, have given a little more thought to the effect it might have on their core audience?” Osmond asked his audience.

Osmond, known for his strong religious convictions, and for being a squeaky clean pop star during his own younger days, said he thinks the music industry should take a look at their “marketing policies.”

“Unlike 20 years ago, in today’s modern, viral world in which content becomes instantaneously available irrespective of age, I wonder whether the music industry might need to rethink its marketing policies with regard to making an explicit music video containing profanity, sexual exploitation, nudity, and graphic violence available to anyone with Internet access,” said the singer, who currently is starring in Las Vegas alongside his sister Marie

THE ANNOTICO REPORT

A Commentary on current news of interest to those of Italian ancestry, that appear in U.S., Italian, and International publications

Monday, November 23, 2009
Lady Gaga, aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta

Why hadn't someone told me earlier that Lady Gaga is Italian American. While VERY Edgy, and Flashy, she showed her talent in song writing, performing, and fashion at a very early age, and then later developed an interest in Philosophy and Civil Rights. Her admission of BiSexuality has made her even more controversial.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta an American recording artist.better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, was born March 28, 1986, in Yonkers, New York, the eldest child of Italian American parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta, at age 11 she was set to join Juilliard School in Manhattan, but instead attended Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private Roman Catholic school.Playing piano by ear from the age of 4, she went on to write her first piano ballad at 13 and began performing at open mike nights by age 14. At age 17, she gained early admission to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. There, she studied music and improved her songwriting skills by composing essays and analytical papers focusing on topics such as art, religion and socio-political order. She later withdrew from the school to focus on her musical career.is
After being signed to and quickly dropped from Def Jam Records at age 19, she moved out of her parent's house to start performing in the rock music scene of New York City's Lower East Side. During this time, she was also working at Interscope Records as a songwriter for several established acts, including Akon, who, after hearing Gaga sing, convinced Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine to sign her to a performer deal. Around the same time she started taking drugs, and performing at burlesque shows: Gaga says her father "just didn't understand" at that he could not look at her for several months.
Music Producer Rob Fusari compared her style to Freddie Mercury, and nicknamed her Gaga, after the Queen song Radio Ga Ga, which she then adopted as her stage name.
She relocated to Los Angeles, and her debut album The Fame, was released in August 2008 a critical and commercial success. In addition to receiving generally positive reviews, it has gone to number one in four countries, also topping the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart in the United States. The album's first two singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face", have become international number-one hits, and the former was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 51st Grammy Awards. In 2009, after having opened for New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls, Gaga embarked on her first headlining tour, The Fame Ball Tour.

Gaga is inspired by glam rockers such as David Bowie and Queen, as well as pop singers such as Madonna, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Jackson. She is also inspired by fashion, Andy Warhol and Grace Jones which she has said is an essential component to her songwriting and performances. To date she has sold over 20 million digital singles and more than four million albums worldwide.

Gaga appeared semi-nude, wearing only plastic bubbles, on the cover of the annual 'Hot 100' issue of Rolling Stone in May 2009.In the issue she discussed that while she was making her beginnings in the New York club scene, Gaga was romantically involved with a heavy metal drummer. Gaga described their relationship and break-up, saying of it, "I was his Sandy, and he was my Danny [of Grease], and I just broke." He later became an inspiration behind some of the songs on her debut album The Fame. Gaga also stated that she is bisexual and is inspired by beautiful women, stating I'm a free sexual woman and I like what I like. I don't want people I'm saying it because I'm trying to be edgy or underground."

Gaga was nominated for a total of nine awards at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for "Poker Face" and Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction for "Paparazzi" Gaga managed to win the award for "Best New Artist" while her single "Paparazzi" won two awards for "Best Art Direction" and "Best Special Effects." In October, Gaga received Billboard magazine's Rising Star of 2009 award.[Later she appeared on Saturday Night Live in a comic skit with Madonna and performing a part of her upcoming single "Bad Romance", from her forthcoming album titled The Fame Monster . Gaga attended the Human Rights Campaign's "National Dinner" on October 10th, 2009, before marching in the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. Musical style and influences.

I don't get what your random posts (digs) have to do with this discussions? lol

In any case, in all honesty, maybe my eyes are just getting old, but she doesn't really look all that terribly different to me. For the exception of maybe a bit of a nose job, I don't see much that might not change (if you can even call it that) with a bit of age, change in weight or hair and makeup trickery. shrug

And so the fuck what if she had surgery? I wouldn't give a shit if she had her nose turned upside down and had her butthole put in the middle of her forhead. What does surgery have to do with anything? She's certainly not advocating natural beauty, like India. If India had surgery I might bit a bit skeptical on her lyrics, but not Gaga. lol
