Who gives a fuck what India Arie has to say? If she thinks Gaga is all image, then she's clearly much more ignorant than she presents herself to be. Someone tell this bitch to sit the fuck down, know her roll, and shut her goddam mouth. bored2

I cant stand pretentious never-beenslike India Arie who have to call out more relevant and successful artists just to get a paragraph on a blog post.

U don't have to like her! lol

Ppl r so quick to jump on Gaga, sayin she has no substabce, she's not talented, shes all image, when anyone who is objective can see that she has a good voice, writes her music, and plays piano.

Everybody's sucess has to do with their image. Even talented artists like Prince relied on imagery. Imagery is part of artistry. India "I'm Not My Hair" Arie needs to go after every video artist if she really believes this, and not just pick on the most popular one to get some (much needed) attention.

I'm sure she's a talented young women but I personally don't think she's that great, especially with her 80s rip-off image (seriously, why are people still trying to revive the 80s back? Let it die already).

Even still, I would've kept it on the hush. I guess Twitter gives celebrities an excuse to yell when they can't do it in public and their tweets still get out to the public. confused

Some say it was an attention-grabber (duh), it's the same with India even if her's is more of an opinion, a rant, but an opinion nonetheless. But this is what happens when you say something and fans hear it on Twitter, so if you can't take the heat, don't put your feet in the kitchen.

SHE IS ALL IMAGE!

Fuck! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. How can so many people be that easily led by a flashy video and weird clothes? The Gag's so-called music is negligible. Let her be a visual artist or a performance artist all she wants. But anyone trying to hang a tag that says musician on her needs their head examined and their ears cleaned out.

Horseshit. Most people could not pick out a Gaga tune on the radio from the rest of what's playing, and that's the truth.

I'm not India's biggest fan but people seem to be going a little hard on her. If she were talking about T-Pain--who is almost unanimously hated here--I wonder if there'd be the same reaction. hmmm

I'll own self-righteous as I think I was the first to throw it out there on this thread.I said she was sounding that way. To me, when you're criticizing a fellow artist and throwing around words and phrases like "social responsibility" in your criticism (especially when the person you're going on about does plenty which can be/is considered socially responsible by others), that's exactly what you come off as.

I'm a BIG fan of India's and have always looked at her as a positive and creative individual.I can't tell you how many pieces I've painted to her music. cloud9
These comments (again, to me) don't make her sound any more socially responsible or aware than anyone else. They come across as unimaginative bitchiness. If you don't like what you're seeing, put it into your craft. Write a song about it (without calling out your peers, by name, which comes across as tacky).

Of course, anyone has every right to call others out by name on anything they like, but they should then be prepared for any backlash and not pretend that their words have been twisted. Just own it.

India.Arie Claps Back At Her Internet Attackers

After India.Arie Tweeted these messages about the lack of social responsibility artists (like Beyonce and Lady GaGa) are taking in their music and videos these days, folks started attacking her. But she’s not taking the internet thuggery lightly. Here’s her Twitter response to the stans and vicious attackers:

I woke up this morning to the news that my Great Grandmother who was 99 years old, made her transition. She was a courageous and Noble very intelligent Bold spoken women. I was going to write this ANYway, but now, I have added incentive. Life’s to precious to live it for anybody else.

So let’s clarify one good time, for myself, for my fans and friends, and anyone attempting to disrespect me, twist my words or intimidate me.

To be clear, I made the mistake of thinking that I could have a conversation about current events with a mass group of people, of course that NEVER works, because obviously there are too many people who think too many ways to keep it to a simple debate and sharing of ideas.

BUT I speak to mass groups of people through my music, I write songs of social commentary, so, I continue to speak my heart and mind. I never intend to disrespect any one if it ever comes across that way, it’s a misperception of who I am and intend to be.

Sadly, not surprising that some kids will be THAT disrespectful…LOL! I have to laugh to keep from crying. It scares me for our kids. I know were better than that. No one can make you be a kinder person, but why not be kinder for yourself? Being Crude and vulgar is such a waste of time and mind. I see all of that type of talk as childish games. If you really want to communicate with me be eloquent and respectful. I enjoy debate and understanding other points of view. Anything other than that is just bad childish jokes, I haven blocked you yet because I find it astonishing and curious… I’m scared for our youth, we gotta be better than that.
And to GROWN people saying little slick stuff… This internet anonymity syndrome, where people say mean things ONLY because they know they won’t have to be held responsible for it … Sad sign of the times man
