his remark on other artists is pathetic,
but back in the day, between 1979-1981
he could live up 2 his image.
just check out "street songs (deluxe edition)".
a 2cd set featuring the classic "street songs" from
1981.the 2´nd cd is a superenergic live concert
from the same year where he drives the californian
audience wild.

while I don't agree with everything Rick Says I give Him Props for not being afraid too state how He feels unlike so many Artists that will just lie there Ass away on other Artists.Rick is one of the few Artists that Says what alot of People say but they don't have the forum too express it.Props too Him for that.I don't feel Rick is Jealous but Hurt more than anything.but Rick still able too get another chance&one can never know what might happen? He spoke out against the Business.especially Motown.

---

Dude, Rick is mad and jelous and it is tired and lame.

Well, I guess he's jealous of a whole lotta people, considering that he talks trash about just everybody

In addtion, I have never heard him say anything nice about Prince

Really? I have.

When I was growing up I use to read all of the teen music mags and I never saw Rick say anything positive about Prince without making some snide remark. In fact he use to talk bad about P-Funk and The Temptations. The guy is a asshole. I will not go into the drugs and the attacking woman nonsense. He was in DC about a year ago and I was told he was horrible. He forgot song lyrics and was verbaly abusive to the audience.

Yeah, the 'Street Songs' Deluxe Edition is EXCELLENT! I really hope that Motown will re-master the other essential Rick James albums ('Come Get It'(1978),'Throwin Down'(1982) and 'Cold Blooded'(1983).Add a second disc to each one, filled with rarities and outtakes and I will be a happy camper indeed.

It is quite excellent, David! I've been jammin' to it all weekend, or at least the second disc! smile Funky as shit! Ahhh...the shit takes me back to a better time! And you're right, I hope this is the start of Motown remastering the rest of his catalog too!

I love Rick James music in the day. It saddens me deeply that we were as yet (and more likely never) not to know where his talent in music could have gone.
We have seen what drugs, ego and growing old in times bitter garden does to one.

In addition to the funky music,I LOVE the funny comments that Rick makes to the crowd,as well as that little competition thing he does with Teena Marie. It's a kickass performance and I would have KILLED to have been at that concert back in '81.

You and me both! It sounded like it had SOOO much energy...sorta like a Prince concert from back in the day! LOL! I love the part where he asks people to raise their left hand and pretend like it's the KKK and "smack the shit out of it"! What a way to put it! smile

The concert I wanted to attend so badly in summer of 1982 here in Atlanta was Rick James/Ray Parker Jr and Cheri. That summer Rick was riding high with his Throwin Down album and Ray Parker was ruling with his great album The Other Woman. However, me and buddies parents wouldn't let us get tickets for the show because of Rick's image and the things he known to do at his concerts.
