UseaxyMf & Supernova, all I meant was that I expect Rick to do things like that and that doesn't surprise me. He's always been that way, he has a HUGE ego (as he always had) and by saying things like that it makes him feel like he's better, superior, you know, "slick rick", which I think is a little pathetic sometimes, but he's always been that way, you can't expect him to change over night, can you?
And as far as the props thing goes, all I meant was that after dissin' and making fun of Prince, he always manages to say something positive about him, which means he probably doesn't mean half the things he means, you know how it is when you talk trash about someone. I just don't take him seriously when he says those things, I never did, 'cause that the way he's always been.
Basicly when it comes to Rick, all I really care about is the music, not what drug he's doing or whatever, so I really don't follow that kind of stuff with him, I thought he was clean and off them, but I guess I wrong.
that is a Solid Point.Rick Busts on Everybody just about except MJ.

Overnight? Umm, no. It's been 20+ years.

And as far as the props thing goes, all I meant was that after dissin' and making fun of Prince, he always manages to say something positive about him, which means he probably doesn't mean half the things he means,

Yeah, when people constantly demonstrate jealous animosity toward others for 20+ years, then afterward say something positive, that's subtley trying to soften the verbal blows they just dished out to cover their own butts, to make it seem jovial. It's called damning with faint praise. It doesn't fool everybody.

you know how it is when you talk trash about someone.

Not with the same animosity for 20+ years. If I had a grudge against someone for that long it would be for something SERIOUS, not for silly, immature competitive career garbage that happened two generations ago.

Well, the drug thing is something I would have hoped he would have steered cleared of for his own sake, but when I hear from other people who have attended recent gigs, they say it aint the case.

I'm trying to be as clear as I can be: whenever Rick speaks publicly he NEVER fails to criticize and talk down about people who are having or had more success than him. He has the bloody, hypocritical nerve to criticize someone's lyrics and persona - yeah, SLICK RICK thinks he's still slick. As far as taking him seriously or not, as soon as he'll mellow out on making all his grudges public, he'll stop getting the heat, because he can obviously take it.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

some folks can't give the Cat Props&talk all His side-talk as just that.but I will say this for Rick when he has talked about certain Artists He has been on the Money IMHO.if Rick is talking about somebody's Talent or there Music then I'll listen because this Cat knows His Music but anything else is your usual EGO-Over the top Talk.

Rick hasn't said nothing recently&He trips alot.everybody talks about Others openly it seems.Prince in some of His Songs has said stuff about Michael Jackson over the years&where the Hell is the out-cry? but Mike&Prince are cool.see there is your example.i could flip the script&Play Devil's Advocate&say Prince is Jelous of Michael Jackson but that ain't so but you see how it gets overblown?we should really end this disscussion on this topic.it's more funnier than anything else really.

Look, tired topic bad topic whatever...bottom line its Org worthy. I put this up 4 a few reasons. But most importantly 2 point out those facts I seen & heard 4 those who may B interested. No crime*

I dig alot of Ricks music & can respect what he's done in music as a Funkster etc..But the truth cuts like a motha if your a deep loving kind of Rick James fan. But lifes rough & tough baby. So Even with Prince or any artist I never lose my common sense 2 become so lost in2 who they are or "were" 2 overlook the "dumb" "sick" "senseless" stuff the may do.

Oh hey and I'm very aware that Rick has done this or is known 2 have a blabber mouth in the past. But when U want 2 B the one whos doing the capping on other people as Rick loves 2 do...Please at least B God's finest angel B-4 U open up your pie hole. That means don't have a dirty crime littered life yourself.

Seeing him on that show gasping at times when he tried 2 sing a taste of Fire & Desire 2 a young lady...Yeah Rick truly has balls of steel 2 rip on a artist whos in fantastic form such as Prince or all the other artist brought up that hes dug in2. U may like James "Keepin it real" straight talk...but sad 2 say coming from him really holds as much weight as a gram of crack* Do I expect the brotha 2 change over nite? I think someone already perfectly laid down the facts that Rick is WAY over grown and in his new state "as he says" of being drug & drink free...well I would think that he might have a new look on things many many years later. (not)

He was a cool cat at a time...now hes what I call a stray cat whos really not making enough of the "right moves or "saying the right" things when hes got the spotlight. He should know that his life could end anyday and with knowing that kind of fact, he really needs 2 do alot of repair work on his self-image and understand that his days of being a bad ass & force in music are done.

What was brought up in terms of the "positive" things he did in musics past when he was hot should B what he wants 2 B known 4...wasting your lifes last years by talking out the side of your neck will only make people think of him as a washed up 2-bit & bitter has-been*

MisterMaxxx, I got nothing but respect 4 U and your bright mind. U & David Eye are my brothas on the Org...but this time we don't see eye 2 eye on this subject, but know there are no bad feelings on my end. Hell real brothers don't always get along right?

I was a huge fan of Prince and Rick in the early 80's. I thought Street Songs and 1999 came out the same year 1982? Or was it possibvle for one to steal ideas from the other on these records? Both are 2 of my all time favorites.

I think it makes Rick look Stupid and all talking about Prince like that and maybe he just wants Prince to talk to him and for them to be friends or something. Why is he acting Juvenile? Prince probably Laughs at him. Rick out to give it up and just Concentrate on getting his act together, staying Clean and making Kick-Ass Music and not Back-Biting Prince. How Petty and Foolish of Him.

Speaking of the 'Urban Rapsody' CD (1997),I LOVE that slow jam "Don't Ever Say You Love Me" which is a duet with JoJo of the Mary Jane Girls.Man,that song is DA SHIT!! In the liner notes,Rick says that he originally planned to record it with Teena Marie, but I think JoJo sounds great on it.

Why wasn't that released as a single??

Talk about SOUR APPLES.
Yes he had talent at one time...now after so many years of coke & booze, I'm surprised he still has enough gray matter left to hold a coherent conversation.

The only thing I'll say about this and then I'll leave it alone is, even though Prince outlasted Slick Rick from a musically creative standpoint{Rick is an important artist in the funk vein of things}. He is the creator of that whole punk-funk thang. You can certainly hear his influence on groups like The Clash. Rick has a healthy amount of respect for Prince{he was probably just poking fun at him in a joking kind of way...that's all)

Just putting the proper prospective on things ya'll...THAT's ALL!!!(LOL)

Poking fun?? I saw Rick James in concert last year and all he did was talk about prince. The man can't let it go. I think Rick is still using and needs therapy.

I saw Rick James on some lame show a while ago, and he looked terrible. Bloated and drugged was how he looked.
Nuff said about that.

I think Rick's drug of choice today in 2003 is Big Mac's and Large Fries
