Come Back To Me is kinda boring. I agree that ATAP isn't. Of course, I prefer her ballads with JJ & TL ballads over this. I just really love her voice on this song. The melody isn't memorable like her past classic ballads though. I didn't hold high expectations or anything. I mean, it's JD | |

It’s hard to get excited about a song when the artist herself sounds half interested to begin with.
Funny thing is that I usually love all of Janet’s ballads. By nature, her voice always sounds so incredibly delicate and vulnerable on them - a rare quality not many artists have. Due to their similarities, I have "Again" queued on my iTunes playlist to follow "Nothing" and it’s interesting to hear how much better of a song "Again" really is. It has structure, a beautiful melody, she reaches for a high note, and there’s an orchestra. Meanwhile, "Nothing" ignores all those elements and instead finds Janet simply delivering a story over a barely there production. It’s a totally different approach and I don’t think it works. I guess the club remix (if there is one) will have to save the day. | |
