Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Reunion Ends in Arrest

The much anticipated hometown local reunion of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ended on a sour note last night with the arrest of one of the rap groups members.

According to Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies, they received a tip from the Cleveland Police Department that Howse, more commonly known as Flesh-N-Bone from the Cleveland group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, was performing at the House of Blues on Sunday evening. Deputies entered the venue and observed him on stage, with an intent to arrest him after the concert.

Police say that Howse recognized that deputies were watching him while he was on stage, and then called the crowd up on to the stage. He then attempted to make an exit off the side under cover. Unfortunately, that tactic did not work. Howse was restrained by a deputy while other deputies and Cleveland police assisted.

Howse was wanted on warrants for "Domestic Violence with a Firearm Specification" and "Felonious Assault with a Firearms Specification."

Howse was taken to Cuyahoga County jail. He resides in Los Angeles, and this was believed to be his first visit to Cleveland in more than ten years

I heard on the radio today on "Five Things You Need to Know" this was their "reunion" jump off and that Flesh n Bone just got out of prison on a 10 year bid, (I believe they said) for threatening his neighbor with explosives and an AK47. I think he has some serious anger issues. I also think Bone Thugs should do a reality show and audition for a replacement. You know..like TLC? Don't 'brick' me.

Exclusive: Layzie Bone discusses arrest of his brother, Flesh-N-Bone, at Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's homecoming show Sunday night in Cleveland

One moment, Layzie Bone was onstage, rapping a song called "Thug Devotion." The next moment, he saw at least 15 law enforcement officers in the wings, taking his older brother Flesh-N-Bone into custody.

"It was pandemonium," said Layzie, whose real name is Steven Howse.

Almost 90 minutes into Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's sold-out concert Sunday night at House of Blues in Cleveland, Flesh (aka Stanley Howse) was arrested on charges of domestic violence and felonious assault, stemming from an October 1998 incident in Solon.

According to a Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office record, Flesh's mother suffered a one-inch cut on the side of her head after Flesh struck her with a gun.

"That's a damn lie," Layzie told The Plain Dealer on Tuesday afternoon, speaking by phone from a tour stop in Indianapolis, where Bone Thugs-N-Harmony performed (minus Flesh) on Monday night. It was Layzie's first interview since Flesh's arrest.

"My brother never struck my mother," said Layzie, 35.

"I was right there. What happened was, some dudes walked up and were hating on us, and my mother got in the middle of it.

"She was trying to protect her children. And then they're gonna say my brother hit my mother -- c'mon, man. We aren't barbaric.

"My brother is so respectful of my mother. He's her oldest son. That's why we're looking at this like, 'Can you believe what they're saying?' They're trying everything they can to tear Bone Thugs-N-Harmony down."

Flesh, 36, was arraigned Tuesday morning in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is free on $1,000 bond. His case was assigned to Judge Joseph Russo, with a pre-trial hearing set for April 6.

Flesh is staying with family members in Cleveland, said Layzie, who spoke to his brother by phone Tuesday.

"He's doing good," Layzie said. "We understand that the past is the past, and we're gonna clean that up in order to move forward."

Deputies had planned to arrest Flesh after the show, but they moved in early because they thought he was trying to slip out, according to a sheriff's spokesman.

"My brother walked offstage to get some water," Layzie said.

"He wasn't tipped off. . . . We didn't even get to finish our show. We weren't nowhere near finished. We had a three-hour show for Cleveland.

"We cooperated with the police. They did their job and obeyed the law, as well as we did. We knew them guys. We went to school with 'em. We went to school with the police, man.

"But why did they let us go onstage if we couldn't finish the show? That was disrespectful. To say Flesh was trying to run -- run where?"

Flesh, who resides in Los Angeles, served time in California prison from 2000 to 2008 for threatening a man with an AK-47 assault rifle.

This was Flesh's first visit to Cleveland in 12 years, Layzie said.

Flesh was unaware of the outstanding warrants against him, as were the other members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Layzie said.

Cleveland was the fifth stop on a 34-date U.S. tour for the Grammy-winning hip-hop group, which got its start here in the 1990s. For now, Layzie, Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone plan to continue touring without Flesh.

"He has permission from his parole office [in California] . . . to go to all these cities," Layzie said. "If we knew [about the warrants], we wouldn't even have [played] Cleveland. . . . I'm torn, man, because I love my city so much."

Pamela Howse, the mother of Flesh and Layzie, was at the concert here. When Flesh was arrested, she had an anxiety attack and was taken to Huron Hospital.

She went home Monday night, Layzie said.

"She's doing fine," Layzie said.

"She had just seen her son after all this time, and the [expletive] police -- she didn't understand what was going on. So I had to put my mother in the ambulance and my brother in the police car. You can just imagine how I feel.

"They're telling a lot of lies . . . trying to make us look barbaric. But we're far from that.

"I'm just hopeful that the truth will reign supreme."

Kids forget that their moms and aunties used to actually listen to music before they came along.

And my daughter had the nerve to come and turn my stereo down cause her little boyfriend doesn't like BTNH and he was tired of hearing them through the phone. I politely turned BTNH back up, marched right upstairs and hung up MY motherfucking telephone and dared my daughter to touch again until I said she could! I might let her later on, just when I start playing BTNH again.
