Jamiroquai Appreciation Thread

Jamiroquai I like this group they are very talent. They bring joy too my feet. Do you have some songs you like by Jamiroquai.
Jamiroquai (pronounced /dʒəˈmirəˌkwaj/) are an English funk and acid jazz band. Jamiroquai were initially the most prominent component in the early-1990s London-based acid jazz movement, alongside groups such as Incognito, the James Taylor Quartet, the Brand New Heavies, Galliano, and Corduroy. Subsequent albums have explored other musical directions such as pop, rock and electronica. Jamiroquai have sold more than 35 million albums worldwide.

I love Jamiroquai. Especially his slow balads like Tallalah.

Looks like we'll finally get a new Jamiroquai album this year lol

On August 24,2009,bandmember Derrick McKenzie was interviewed on playvybz.com and talked about the upcoming album. He stated that Jamiroquai is now signed with Universal Records (UK) and that they have recorded more than 40 new tracks. Also the new album will be recorded live and have a style similar to the first three albums with the use of strings and horns. He claims the album will have less of a "disco sound" and will be a lot more funky and soulful. The album is uninfluenced by major record labels and will bring forth a new direction for the band.

During the first week of February 2010, Jay Kay mentioned the upcoming album on Jamiroquai's Facebook site, saying, "Hi Everybody, just wanted to say how amazing it is to have so many Friends on Facebook, half a million I believe. Therefore it feels like the right time to let you know that we are alive and kicking and in the final stages of our 8th album. I really can't wait to get out there and play it for you live in the very near future. Sending you all lots of good luck and love, Jay."

They're also lining up some tour dates for the summer.

***Jamiroquai to perform at Nova Jazz & Blues Night 2010 Festival

Jamiroquai are listed as one of the artists performing at the Nova Jazz & Blues Night 2010 Festival in Vienna, Austria on 24 July. This is currently unconfirmed by jamiroquai.com.

More information, including a link to buy tickets, can be found at jamitaly.com.

UPDATE (25 Feb): This has now been confirmed by jamiroquai.com

***Two more summer concerts in Hungary and France?

Once again this is all awaiting official confirmation from jamiroquai.com, but it looks like Jamiroquai will be performing at the Theatre Jean Deschamps in Carcassonne, France on 19 July.

A few days before it looks like they may be performing at the Balaton Sound Festival in Hungary, which takes place between 8-11 July.

As with all festival dates, gigs are often announced by organisers and the press in advance of any confirmation by jamiroquai.com. Stay tuned, keep checking back at the event/festival and official jamiroquai website and things will eventually be confirmed.

Loved them when they hit the scene. But that was a long time ago. He and his missus (ex possibly) were in one of my local pubs a few years ago. They bought a house in the area.

I liked all the early singles, especially When You Gonna Learn and Blow My Mind, but the albums always were uneven.....actually I find Synkronized to be the most solid start to finish.

Jay Kay does a very soulful rendition of Sunny too.

I pretty much lost interest in them once Stuart Zender (bass) left and they went all disco-ey (not sure if those events were connected). That Godzilla tune was awesome though - Deeper Underground. Serious synth bass!

I knew nothing about Jamiroquai until four years ago. boxed The group didn't get much radio airplay in Chicago maybe over a radio B96 and I never listen to that station. It was only after I got cable that I saw his video VirtualInsanity.
I've backtracked and bought everything. This group didn't get as much play in the States as they should've.

Yes he did an amazing rendition on the song "Sunny". It was originally written and song by Bobby Hebb.

"Having left the band (which was highly covered by the media), Stu continued to work with high profile names. The likes of Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, Mica Paris and Omar requested his services, amongst many others. A personal highlight for Stu shortly after leaving the band was the opportunity to play and record with the legendary Stevie Wonder!"

Here is his website. They all are connected. They all come from Funk (Disco). I see you like bass. I do too when i have my music on. I set the equalizer on high bass when a song is playing.
