Jazz/Contemporary Keyboardist/ Composer Jim Beard

...

Keyboardist, writer and producer Jim Beard is known as a musician's musician, and over the years has been the go to guy for artists and bands like Steely Dan, Wayne Shorter, Dennis Chambers, John McLaughlin, Mike Stern, and Pat Metheny, Wayne Krantz , Victor Bailey, and the late Michael Brecker. He has also recorded and performed with everyone from John Mayer and Meshell Ndegeocello to John Scofield. In addition, he manages juggle a solo recording career while also teaching worldwide,at Berklee College of Music in Boston, The Mason Gross School of Arts at Rutgers University, The Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland and The Aaron Copland School of Music in New York.

What I like best about his compositional approach is that while mixing styles and genres, he also conveys a strong sense of humor, something you don't often find in contemporary electric Jazz....

Then there's Jim with Wayne Shorter in '96, along with that Kick-ass lineup--Rodney Holmes(Drums) David Gilmore (Guitar) and Alphonso Johnson (Bass):
