Sly Stone Meets Expectations There has never been a more talented person that shows no respect for his fans. From what I can see and what I have read he accepts dates, and if we are lucky enough he comes out and only plays three or four songs. It is as if he thinks he is doing the world a favor. I saw him at the House of Blues last april in LA. The Family Stone was great, but the problem was that Sly was playing a different song than the band was. How much higher can you get?
I wasn't shocked when I heard he cancelled the Jakarta Jazz Festival at the last minute a week or so ago.... Can't wait for Coachella...

I love Sly but I wouldn't go see him in concert anymore.I attended one of his shows a few years ago and he was onstage for only 10 minutes! He walked onstage, played keyboards and sang on a few numbers, then walked backstage.

The best way to catch him onstage, if he's with P-Funk.
They really throw down together

Yup. Or Rufus. He's touring with them too.

Well I would love to agree with that, Sly did play in Japan with Rufus. However, he was supposed to play with Rufus in Jakarta but he bailed...

He played in Finland's Pori Jazz festival a few years ago. I couldn't make it to the gig but those who went didn't really appreciate his behaviour and I don't blame them. They went to see him and all he did was play a few tunes and keep disappearing between numbers. Finally he mumbled something about having to go pee and he never came back. The band was okay from what I can gather but that wasn't the point of buying a ticket to see Sly & The Family Stone.
I wouldn't go to his concert but I look forward to hear his new forthcoming album. He's on the cover of latest issue of Mojo. I've only seen a glimpse of the article and it appears to be an interesting read.

How sad to see a guy that's just a broken shell of what he used to be.
Strange because his voice seems like it could still be good. But I'm not going to see Sly play for five minutes, thanks! My Legacy

When I saw him a few years ago,he came onstage after the band had already performed several songs. He played keyboards and sang a few songs, then slowly walks out the stage. He later comes back, mumbling something about "the cops are after me,that's why I had to leave" By this point, half of the audience was leaving, headed for the exits.I heard one lady say "He's crazy!".

I saw him with P-Funk a year ago. He was singing pretty well on the two tracks they did together.
I thought it was great to see him, since it was unexpected, but if I had paid for "him" and got ten minutes of stage time I'd be mad too.

Sly's a studio artist. I don't think he's comfortable performing. That said he shouldn't be paid if all he wants to do is cash the check and not perform. Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..
