This is the album that features the evergreen "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer". What's it been 40 years and how many of us still get misty when that melody kicks in like John Lennon's "Imagine" touched

nod That song makes the album a classic to me.

Syreeta and Yvonne Wright were veryinstrumental in backing the melodies with very strong lyrics in the early beginning.

Yvonne Wright did a lot of great work with Stevie. I'm amazed with how well he and the Wright sisters did with material in the '70s.

see i forgot about "sunshine" for a bit! Love that one too. Strong melody deep lyric. The coolest thing about that song is how it has uplifting and yet sad moods and the chords played back that up.

I often ask myself without Syreeta and Yvonne would Stevie have done an amazing job as he did? It's possible he might've but they added a lot of ingredients in his work from that time period.

To be honest, when I first heard songs from this on YouTube, I thought this was a brilliant collection of songs but not as "cohesive" as Music of My Mind. After listening to this album, I've made a reassessment. Harlepolis pointed out that this album was sorely underrated and I definitely agree with her. Nine beautiful songs written by Stevie & Syreeta mixing socially conscious with romantic balladry and funky musicianship, it was an early concept album that paved the way for Stevie's eventual success. I wanna know what are y'all's thoughts on it? cool

I'm a lil bit surprised, our Motown scholar . eek

Well to be HONEST, I knew about the album and heard some of the songs, it took me a few listens to understand this is where Stevie began to experiment with the music in his mind.

Usually with those kind of things it's the right team of people at the right time with the captain (Stevie) to lead it it but u do need your crew to paddle with you you know when sailing on that flow of music. cool

lol @ those "shocked", I guess what I meant to say is until recently, I realize how important this album was to the career of Stevie. It was the first album that didn't sound so Motown-ish.
