You know what's weird is I always meant to look this up and just did so after reading this thread.
There's a James Brown song, (I believe it's Funky Side of Town from Get On The Good Foot) where James and a couple of other guys are giving shout outs to various singers/bands that they found inspriational during the vamp of the tune. At one point, one of them yells, "Joe Tex" and James Brown replies, "Who"? This always confused me because one of James' earlier songs was Baby You're Right, written by Joe Tex. I just looked him up on Wiki and it appears they had a feud over Joe's wife amongst other things. I'm guessing that I'm riding the pony express on this news wagon, but I never knew about this before. Totally makes sense now. In any event, I'll have to give this album a shot. I've always been curious about him.

They say if you listen very, very, very, very carefully to 'You Keep Her', you can hear James bust a couple of caps @ the end.
.. Meanwhile , I'mma' groove to this. ~ Give The Baby Anything The Baby Wants ~

They went from friends, label mates, tour mates, to gun slinging fights and wife stealing and move stealing among other things. I'd like to hear Little Richard speak on them. They both toured with Richard in 56/57 before Richard found the light or whatever. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Nice set. ...One of my Mom's favorites. Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records Bruce Springsteen used to reference this song back in the early days. The Boss is a whole lot funkier than people know! Also, what is that mic set-up? It looks like a one-piece deal with the mic actually a part of the stand, not held with a clip. And where is the cord? Is it fed through the stand? Or is this just a prop for a lip-synched performance? Either way, it looks cool to me.
