Good question.
I sat front row at the Warfield last night and experienced my first Smokey Robinson concert. He looked great, sounded great, and seemed to be having a really good time. Wow, what a setlist. I apologize for going a little off topic.

Chicago was never on the ballot which is even worse. Lame acts like the Dixie Cups were even on the ballot, Del Shannon and Percy Sledge two examples of having just one song, are both in the HOF and shouldnt be. But from that list, yes the Smokey and The Miracles should be in, Joe Tex and Johnnie Taylor should be at least at some point [Edited 3/14/10 12:27pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I'm still perplexed how Smokey got top billing for induction when his own solo career was only 14 years old when he got inducted and you're required to be a performing artist for 25 years. I mean yeah his career lasted that long but most of the first 17 of the years was as member of the Miracles.

It's a disgrace that Percy Sledge is in but Chicago has NEVER been nominated. I got tired of "When a Man Loves a Woman", that was the song they KEEP playing on and on and on and on and on the radio. I only like "Take Time to Know Her" and that wasn't even a big of a hit as "When a Man..." ![]()

That's least important to what they did accomplish between 1959 and 1972 but if you want the answer, not much.
