You know something, I did not appreciate this album until years later. This track especially. The album is great and you can't tell me that he was not trying to get his "Prince" on, with "...Til Tomorrow". That track reminds me so much of, "Insatiable".

More like Prince later on was trying to get his "Marvin" on. wink

He was heavily influenced by Rick James, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and new wave when he recorded the Midnight Love album in '82.

You're right, Timmy. I always get the release dates of the two, mixed up.

Great track. I remember in 1984 when he was on soul train with his
then 11 year old daughter Nona Gaye, Don asked her what her
favorite song was on the Midnight Love album and she said
Rockin After Midnight.

Hate to be age/year-specific but wasn't the show in 1983 and Nona had yet to turn nine (I think she was 8 lol). It was filmed in May of '83. smile

You're right. I knew the album was released in 83 but i can't remember
when and you know how a great album tends to run into the next year.
I knew Nona was very young then but couldn't remember her exact age.
I was off on the year and age somewhat but i do remember the episode.

That's OK. smile But yeah I bet that was a great episode. I heard Marvin did "Sexual Healing" and "'Til Tomorrow" on the show, didn't he do "Rockin' After Midnight" too? lol

There were two songs by Marvin that still have an effect on me,"Got to give it up" and "Sexual Healing". "Got to give it up" because, of where his head was at the time of recording....and the same for "Sexual Healing". There was something about "Sexual", the "Midnight Love and "Got to give it up", albums that was just weird to me....It was as if he was trying to find his "legs" again.
