Gospel-tinged songs by our favourite acts (making a compilation)

Just want a few i could stick on a playlist if i'm feeling a bit 'Churchy'.

My first two..

1. Heaven is 10zillion light years away - Stevie Wonder
2. Keep The Faith - Michael Jackson
3....

Help me out!

Or discuss. smile

The two that always make me smile are "Optimistic", by Sounds of Blackness and "Make it like it was", by Regina Belle.

Even though pressed people on here don't like him - R. Kelly's self-titled album has quite a few gospel - tinged tracks.

Oh and your fav's Man in in the Mirror and Heal the World are very gospel-tinged.

I don't want too many by the same acts, the only other MJ track i'd put on is 'On The Line'. HTW is icky barf and MITM is overplayed.

Got another by Stevie. 'Free'. smile

lol

I thought you would co-sign but I agree those songs are meh.

Hmmm. Donny Hathaway - Someday We'll All Be Free is another song that will take you to church. Devotion by Earth, Wind and Fire is a good one as well.

I'm more of a "sanctified" gospel listener, I listen to those gospel songs that have a BEAT in it, not the ones that are basically slow ballads. lol

Well, I was gonna weigh in with Mariah, Marvin Gaye, Donnay Hathaway, et al, but since they have been represented already, I thought I'd bring some more unusal picks:

Bridge Over Troubled Water - either Simon & Garfunkel or Aretha Franklin
Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand) - Diana Ross
Anyway - Martina McBride
Hallelujah - either Leonard Cohen or Jeff Buckley
One - U2 and Mary J. Blige version

It's funny, I suggested the original version of the song earlier in the thread. Faith even uses the original background vocals from the DJ Rogers song. GREAT song!!

Of course, the assumption is that you're a Christian, but you may very well not be. And that's fine with me (smile).

Donna Summer to the rescue (smile):

1. Forgive Me
2. He's A Rebel
3. I Believe In Jesus
4. I'm Free
5. Looking Up
6. Riding Through A Storm
7. Stop, Look, And Listen
8. Unconditional Love
9. Take Heart
10. When The Dream Never Dies

Others (Non-Donna Summer Related):

1. Light Of Love - Angie & Debbie Winans
2. Under The Influence - Anointed
3. Can't Live A Day (DJ Tieso Mix) - Avalon
4. Wonder Why (Roswell Mix) - Avalon
5. Heaven - Bebe & Cece Winans
6. Note To God - Charice
7. Let Me Tell It - Commissioned
8. Jesus Is Just Alright - DC Talk
9. God Is Amazing - Deniece Williams
10. Forgiven - First Call

There really too many to list. LOL.
