LOS ANGELES, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Some of today's biggest recording artists and producers have joined together to celebrate the music of multi-Grammy winning producer, composer and arranger Quincy Jones by recording contemporary versions of popular recordings from his massive catalog for a new album from Interscope Records entitled Q: Soul Bossa Nostra. A "family celebration," Q: Soul Bossa Nostra will be released May/June, 2010.

Renowned for blending musical genres as he did with his 1989 multi-Grammy winning "Album of the Year" Back on the Block and 1995's platinum Q's Jook Joint, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra will feature an assortment of artists and producers from the Pop, R&B and Hip-Hop worlds such as Usher, Ludacris, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, T-Pain, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Wyclef Jean, Q-Tip, Talib Kweli, Three 6 Mafia, David Banner, BeBe Winans, Mervyn Warren, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Paul, and Scott Storch, among others who wanted to pay tribute to these works by Jones.

I like some of these artists but NO. What made Quincy want to be relevant again?

And even if he did, he'd just say
"I'm back baby!" and Ludacris and Akon would stand behind him nodding.

I think when MJ died he might have taken Q's musical soul with him
and it got replaced with this mess. Seriously, is WATW25 still getting
any radio play? Wasn't that like 2 weeks ago?

Seriously, what's the point of a project like this? What's Quincy trying to prove? If I wanted to hear all those whack artists,I would go out and buy their own CDs! I don't see why Quincy always has to feature a million guest artists on his own albums. And what's with all the damn remakes?? If people want to hear those songs, they're gonna stick with the ORIGINAL versions!!

This isn't the first time that Quincy has fucked up a Brothers Johnson classic. On his last album,he did a remake of "Stomp" that was horrendous disbelief It features a bunch of rappers pissing all over it.Unbelievable!

lol ya know,it's time for Quincy to call it a day.If remaking old, classic songs with a bunch of rappers is the best he can do,it's time to hang it up.

'The Dude' is a wonderful album because it's genuine and un-pretentious.He was working with talented vocalists (James Ingram and Patti Austin) who weren't well-known before that album. He picked a bunch of NEW songs that were excellent...."Razzmatazz","One Hundred Ways",the pop masterpiece "Just Once",the funky title track, etc. He even chose a killer song to remake,"Ai No Corrida",turning it into a funk/R&B dancefloor jam.

His subsequent albums are bloated and over-long,featuring too many guest stars and rappers. He seems determined to re-make all of his classic songs, this time using rappers and hip-hop production. It's a shame that he's choosing to go out this way.

Quincy hasn't put together anything worthwhile as a producer
since Tamia's You Put a Move on My Heart around the mid nineties.
I guess he's trying to get in the rap circle these days because his
days as a top notch sought after producer is over.
Don't laugh at my funk
