There was a sample of a new Toni song posted on here a few weeks ago, and it was vapid and soulless. By hearing this song, I'm really disappointed with whoever she's working with. There's a trend that started in R&B well over a decade ago where there's minimal instrumentation, and a loud, over-processed, sparse, and uninteresting percussion and/or drum beat with some banal delivery of over-simplified and empty lyrics. Fools like K.C. and Jojo, DruHill, etc have perpetuated this lack of musicianship and musicality in the industry. Now, whoever is producing Toni's album is doing the same shit, trying to be "fresh" or "new" or "different". If it ain't broke, don't fucking fix it. I see that some Producer D'jour Lucas Secon produced some of her new songs. Yes, I know who Lucas (with the lid off) is, I'm already not looking forward to her album if this guy is pissing all over it. Let me just go listen to this and try to forget the new album:

I dig the Mo'Nique part but it would have been much better minus the cursing... Toni is getting on my nerves with all this mellowed out Brian-Michael Cox sounding stuff.

Who is picking her producers?? Yeah, this is lame and adding Mo'Nique is not a bonus. Oh well... moving on. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

it's nice. i plan on getting the album. i really like Toni a lot. her "Libra" album was overlooked sadly. had some good tracks on it. but to me, she's yet to match or deliver something as solid as her "The Heat" album.
this new stuff seems to be missing some kick behind it. LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣

Why does an educated opinion of music make one sound traumatized?
