One of my FAVE Philly Soul divas nod

I was really intrigued when I read in her bio that she was one of the last female vocalists for Duke Ellington before he died. You know you're tough as nails(musically) if you made it in the Duke's band.

This is one of my FAVE tunes from her...

I also love this tune from Mr.C,,,.,

I seriously need to get some of her recordings! I love the song "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" music I guess I'll start with a few of her late 70s albums.

I really love Jean Carne such a great singer but when it comes to "Take Me I`m Yours" the female singer on that tune is not Jean Carne it´s Rena Scott who among other stuff worked with Mtume/Lucas.

Thank You for correcting me. Scott's first major hit song was a 1978 duet with urban funk artist Michael Henderson, "Take Me I'm Yours," which peaked at number three on the Black Singles chart and was featured on his In the Night-Time album. I LOVE JEAN CARNE!!! I didn't discover her until late (1986) when she of course had her biggest hit with "Closer" and on that same album, recorded the most amazing version of "Everything Must Change" I have ever heard! Jean definately never received the props she so clearly deserved. I talked to someone who knows her and he told me she's always had poor manangement and that's why she never received that big break. But, what an absolutely amazing voice she has!!!

Back then the record companies held all the cards and resulting in the fact that many black artists didn't have the right legal representation. So some of them got the their money stolen or the copy rights to their material. Managers that work for the companies were getting slices of the pie. So the artists which stole millions of units will not see a potion of it. So Mrs Carnes and the others that do deserve to get theirs. Click on link for more info.

Bought this when vacationing in San Francisco. Great songs, from two fantastic albums. Check out "Bet Your Lucky Stars", and "Catching Up To Do".
