What is it that makes Steve Arrington's voice so special? There is just something about his voice that is just BEYOND and I can't quite put my finger on it. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." | |

I love his voice. I do.
But honestly, I don't get what the big deal is. To me, had it not been for the music that Slave provided behind him, I probably wouldn't pay as much attention to him . | |

His voice is unique. Definitely not the norm. Keith Sweat with his nasally ass was probably influenced by him. | |

I think it might be the tone of his voice. It's just... rich. He and Slave were the perfect match, I agree. Without that bass behind him-I can't see Steve in Cameo or the Ohio Players "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." | |

His voice & that slappin bass were a great combination

I remember Steve mentioning in an interview that he was influenced by artists like John Coltrane and Jimi Hendrix, and that he would sometimes imitate some of that feel in his vocals--so that at least explained one aspect of it--those dive-bombing vocal runs and sounds he would make--I realized that he was imitating instrumental sounds... .."Whoaaah....Nyah, Nyah...." ...
