Jill Scott - "Hear My Call"

This is from the NAACP awards. I'm rarely emotional about a song, but this just did it for me.

Just beautiful Jill.

That song was kind of a hot mess. And large woman, wearing an outfit that is shapped like a tent is *not* attractive...EVER!!!

WOW! Jill gets up in you like no other. I completely understand, tricky2. She interpret songs where you feel the song's emotion versus just being entertained.

Nice prayer. Too bad it was so short. I understand live television time restraints though. The melody in the beginning of the verses reminds me a little of Diana Ross' "Missing You". "Since you been away..."

I wonder if this is just for charity or if its from the upcoming,"Why Did I Get Married Too" Soundtrack. I don't know, maybe its from some of her new shit she's working on. Either way I like it.

This was the only, and I said the ONLY, good thing in the 2 hour NAACP Award ceremony. THE ONLY THING.

Wyclef's ego is growing exponentially, by the way.

I enjoyed what I watched of the program, Vann Jones in particular. What did you not enjoy?

Personally, I find Jill Scott's performances so affected, I just don't enjoy her.

At least she stayed in one place (this time) and didn't go off on one of her long "walks." Hehe. I thought the song was beautiful and touching; reminiscent of say, Minnie Riperton w/o the whistle register leaps. smile

I found it funny in WDIGM that she had to wear a 'fat suit' to make her self look overweight - she's always been fat. But still attractive - she would look so much better if she lost some pounds though.
