What Ever Happened 2 Remy Shand? Yeah, um...
Dunno why this cat is on my mind right now. His sound just soothed me I guess. I played his album to death. It's like my "staple album"--can't leave home, can't have a new computer, etc without it. (Ok does that make me seem odd... ) I don't want to say "hey he needs to come back", but he just sorta disappeared. His website changed, most google searches for him are dated, and I don't see any hints of anything new. So I'm playing detective here. Maybe somebody here on the .org has the scoop. Have you seen this artist?(I miss my li'l blue-eyed Canadian soul man... ) I could listen to that smooth voice of his all night long....

Not sure where he's at,but I really like his debut album A classic!

Even on the Canadian end here, I cannot answer your question. His videos were all quite heavily played up here too so I can't imagine he "gave up".
Maybe he is just taking 10 years to follow-up like every other soul act of our time.

Dang. Well, I can respect that. Stepping back to chill, maybe work on the craft a bit. I just hope he comes by for a musical visit. Even if it's like an underground online thing. I just hate that it's so quiet on his end. I spent many a Summer after that album came out just chillin' in my room under a fan with his sound. He's just one of those dudes that made me sit back and say "mmm...don't make 'em like that anymore..."

I thought he was dope, too.
It was a nice little record to chill to. Just another case of a talented cat disappearing without a trace! JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Question: What happened to Remy Shand? As far as anyone can tell, Remy Shand has completely fallen off the radar. There are various rumors circulating about his absence, and they range from likely to questionable. What does seem apparent is that his record label Motown was not interested in Remy's follow-up album. This could be for any number of reasons; artistic differences, victim of downsizing, arguments over money, rights, and/or royalties. The list could go on and on. But that was a while ago. As to the question of where Remy is now, there are a few claims, but nothing that can be regarded as 'official'. There have been a few 'sightings' of Remy doing smaller scale shows around Europe. There is another claim that he has relocated to Osaka Japan to make and sell his music to a completely different market. Others say that he has locked himself away to create his next grand masterpiece, a continual work of progress with no actual deadline (sort of pulling an Axel Rose with 'Chinese Democracy'). Remy also got married early in his career; something that could have changed his priorities. He may have made his money, realized he made his dreams come true, and bowed out quietly and gracefully from continuing music in order to start and raise a family. Lastly, there is the rumor that he may have succumbed to the music industry's darker side and fallen in with the wrong crowd dealing the wrong product. He may be hooked on something and keeps himself and his addiction staunchly out of the public eye. It's happened to numerous artists/actors over the years. The bottom line is that Remy Shand's current whereabouts is all just speculation really. No one official has given any official statements for years now. That question about him pops up on here every few months. I guess the only person to answer that question is Remy himself, I suppose. We could use him in music right now though.

I know Wendy & Lisa were locked out of releasing an album for seven years because of Trevor Horn and his contract. Maybe there's a similiar situation going on. Space for sale...

Cinnie said: Daaaang. I read a few bits and pieces about his divorce. I remember hearing he got married about two or three years later. Last night while I was looking for more info on him, I came across a blog that was hosting a song he did with his ex. It was so...beautiful. Well, maybe he's sitting and brewing on what to do next.I'd like him to come back, but totally would understand if he chose not to. Push comes to shove, I might just migrate to the international scene to find him....

Every chance I can, I go on and on about Remy. His debut is one of my favorite albums ever, period.
I know about the divorce and everything, but hopefuuly that difficult experience can inspire some great music. How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

Yup Remy was cool. Hopefully he'll put something out down the road. I found his debut a few years ago in the 99 cent bin at F.Y.E.

Let's hope he's spent the time away from the scene fruitfully and finally learnt to sing.

Hey this dude was pretty cool to me, great mellow music.
I guess Jon B won over him? A bit of a white Maxwell rip off. A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

I guess Jon B won over him? A bit of a white Maxwell rip off. ACTUALLY.....Maxwell ain't got nothin' 2 do w/it!!!!! The bottom line is this: After Robin Thicke blew up, the industry didn't need Jon B, who paved the way for Thicke or Remy Shand. Robin Thicke will be on top 4 a LOOOOONG time until the industry finds their "flavor of the moment"!!!!! BTW- I really liked Remy Shand's CD!!!!!

I remember that Remy and Robin's albums came out around the same time and Remy was getting more shine. He was selling more and had more exposure. That's because Thicke's debut was more complex and artistically daring. Then, he got the "mainstream"itch and sold out with each worst and worst album. That, coupled with the fact that he can't appears to craft a song with a strong melody, hook, and chorus (nor comprehending the artistry of songwriting) has allowed Robin to shoot for mainstream success versus true artsy. Such a shame cause he showed such potential. Space for sale...

Considering how long D'Angelo,Sade,Lauryn Hill and others take to release new albums, perhaps it's not so unusual for Remy to take this long with his album, lol.Still,it would be nice to get some kind of update on how things are going....to let us know that a new album is coming someday.
