A year already? i remember the mad scramble for tickets, it was exciting. Ultimately i didn't get any despite sitting in a ticketasster cue for hours. i remember Bboy urging me to carry on cause we had to get it camcordered! lol

I consoled myself then by saying i'd seen him at his peak. Soon it will be another anniversary, a horrible one.

I'll console myself this time by knowing this 25/06 won't be anything like as bad as the last one. it'll hurt though.

I just remembered that and the tears started to well up.....

To be honest, I haven't really cried about Michael's passing in months, probably back in August. When he passed, I couldn't function the whole week, that may sound weird to people on this forum, but they have to understand, the man was my hero. He's a big part of the fabric of the person I've become.

June 25th, I fell COMPLETELY apart. A part of my childhood, a piece my heart.....that's the best way I can describe it

I vividly remember that day and 3 weeks following the press conference, a couple of us, including you and I, caught hell from alot of orgers (I can name names). People were SOOOOO negative and unwilling that people still wanted or loved Michael Jackson. It was like MJ fans were public enemy #1 in March 2009 on Prince.org, but we (You, me, Timmy, and others) still were excited because he was coming back! biggrin

I told Vanilli some days ago, I had to work over the bitterness because I remember the insults and the people who said them, and I'm sure you do to, but that's not the way to be and as corny as it may sound, that's not what Mike would've wanted

It's still a hard pill to swallow.

The sad part is this week would have marked his 50th show at the O2. Having watched This Is It on blu-ray today I am convinced that these shows would have done what they were intended to do - remind the world of the music and performance that made MJ the greatest entertainer that lived.

Jermaine Jackson Gathers Prince and Justin Timberlake for Michael Jackson Tribute

by Paul Cashmere - March 6 2010

Jermaine Jackson has apparently gathered an all-star cast, including Prince, Justin Timberlake and Santana to pay tribute to his late brother Michael Jackson at a show in June in London.

The Tribute By Jermaine show is expected to take place on June 8, 2010 at Wembley Arena in London.

Other participants include Shakira, Earth Wind and Fire, Usher, Nelson Mandela, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Jabbawockeez, Seal, Neyo and a performance by the Jackson 5 with Janet Jackson.

“The best way and most suitable way is to assemble the world's largest tribute in history that is only fitting to a man who moved the hearts and souls of an unimaginable amount,” Jermaine said in a statement.

The show will be filmed with 12 HD cameras and air globally on June 25, 2010.

Me, too and probably even a bit longer. I felt as if someone just tore my heart off and threw it away - a total emptiness inside. I kept walking around looking at people and not understanding how come the world is going on. I felt I was in a haze or something looking at the world as if I wasn´t part of it. Thank God I am a teacher and that the summer holidays were beginning. I can´t imagine having to go to work and function somehow cause I couldn´t stop the tears for days. Noone understood. My mum kinda told me off for being in a bad mood a day or two after his passing. She´s never understood and never will what he means to me. Let me stop cause I am crying...

Prince wouldn't give Claymaine the time of day.

Maybe if LaToya asked him and offered him some "make up p***y" from 1979 that he didn't get. But other than that Claymaine needs to sit down.

And why didn't he have that sexy servant wife of his order the stun gun?

I know what you mean. I miss so so so so so much seeing him walk around LA in Ed Hardy clothes. For so many years as fans, we'd never know what MJ was doing day to day, and then when an album would come out, he'd be all over, and disappear again. It was so nice to be able to begin to see him day to day, and especially towards the very end of his life, he was taking his kids walking out with him.

Lenny Kravitz's open letter about Michael Jackson

There will never be another talent like Michael Jackson. Many people are saying what a performer, what an icon. How many Grammy's he won. How 'Thriller' was the biggest selling album in history. They speak about the controversy and countless other things. But the truth of the matter is he was a boy that God blessed with the most angelic voice.

Just listen to an early Jackson Five album and listen to that voice. The purity, the feeling, the interpretation of the lyrics. At the age of ten, he was on par with James Brown and Aretha Franklin. But the thing he had that they could not match was the fact that he was a child. But at the same time he sang as an adult. That line between child and experienced adult took his expression to an unmatched level.

I heard somebody on the BBC news tonight say that he was a great singer but didn't have feeling like James Brown. That somebody is not listening carefully. As a child he did it all. Even if he had not done 'Off the Wall' or 'Thriller,' he would still be a genius in my eyes.

I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I've had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time. I also saw what a beautiful father he was. He was a beautiful human being. I am deeply saddened this evening.

He was the first live performer I ever saw. I got to see him at Madison Square Garden when I was eight. If not for him, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing. He gave me joy as a child and showed me the way to go. He was music. Period. His hugeness as a star was great but before he was the King of Pop, he'd said it all.

May you rest in peace sweet Michael. You gave us all you had to give. Lenny.

I may have mentioned it before, but on that day, me and my band were in Toronto on tour. We had a show the next day in Yonge-Dundas Square (the Times Square of Toronto basically).

Of course, a mass public gathering had been arranged in the same location as a tribute to Michael, so that morning, the promoter of our show asked if we could play 2 30-minute sets, with a 25 minute break in between. During this 25 minute break they would play MJ songs over the PA system for the public tribute.

That morning, we had decided we would open the second set with an acoustic improv performance of "The Way You Make Me Feel" as a tribute to Michael. It went down incredibly well, and thankfully all of the fans stayed to watch the rest of our performance too.

I wrote on my blog at the time:

I could go on for hours and hours about all the things I remember, and in the days after his passing, me and my bandmate Sups (also a huge fan) did exactly that. Quoting Michael without even thinking – "Do you remember the time……" We shared our memories. We sat in a hotel room singing MJ songs acoustically until we decided that, at our show the next day in Toronto, we would sing "The Way You Make Me Feel". (little did we know then that thousands of MJ fans were already planning to convene in the same location we would be performing at for a mass public tribute, and would all stay for our performance too……ever had 5,000+ people watching you and singing along with every word?)

but, I just discovered footage on YouTube of our tribute so I thought I'd post it up here. I'm the one in the vest top.

You're always going to get haters.

They were there saying he was past it.
Then he announced the This Is It tour.
They they said he wouldn't sell more than 5.
Then he sold 10.
Then they said no way he would outsell Prince's 21 shows.
Then he sold 50.
Then they said well it will be a mess. He can't sing live. He only has been to 2 rehearsals. He is past it as a performer. And he'll only be on stage for 13 mintues anyway.
Sadly MJ never got to prove the naysayers wrong - they will use his accidental death as proof that he couldn't have done it.
But This Is It proves that MJ still had the chops as a performer. He could sing, dance and put on a show as he always had.

Sadly, on today which would have marked his 50th show, Michael never got a chance to prove the doubters wrong. Never got a chance to remind the world of his brilliance as a performer.

Thankfully, the fans who always knew he could still do it have This Is It to reflect on and take pride in.

Yeah I remember how excited I was upon hearing that Michael was on his way back. When that fateful day hit, it was like my soul had left my body for a minute to grasp the reality of the situation. I hardly cried but afterwards played his videos on YouTube to be subs for any tears that failed to flow. Like you said, a part of my childhood, probably a huge part of it, was taken when MJ was pronounced dead. And the insults were too much in here I agree.
