"Hair" the Musical

I watched it last night for the first time in about 15 years. Still a fantastic, relevant musical. Funny and, ultimately, moving in its conclusion. Directed by the great Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Amadeus, Ragtime, Man on the Moon, The People vs Larry Flynt) and choreographed by Twyla Tharp, it starts off with probably its best known tune...

The Age of Aquarius (sung by Renn Woods)

Good Morning, Starshine

Black Boys White Boys - one of the best sequences of the movie, with the late Nell Carter

Easy to be Hard - sung by Cheryl Barnes love

Hair
"Do you mean am I a homosexual or somethin' like that? I wouldn't kick Mick Jagger out of bed, but I'm not a homosexual, no." lol

I love the movie but what I really want to see is the Broadway stage version. I've heard for years they come out on stage butt ass naked with dicks just a'floppin'. lol

I think it is the best musical ever (at least as a film)... The Broadway version is coming here in London in spring and I am definitely goin'

This is one of my favorite musicals right after Rocky Horror and Fiddler. My favorite song is the one with all the dirty words. lol The one that starts out...

"Sodomy...fellatioooo..."

When I was younger, I used to turn down the sound whenever it came on. I was afraid I'd get in trouble for it. Electric Blues and Hare Krishna are my other faves. And of course, Black Boys and White Boys....I can't avoid quietly singing those to myself sometimes.

Someday, I wanna re-enact the scene in the movie at the fancy party. I'd get a kick out of singing I've Got Life while kicking stuff off a table... eek

I LOVE this movie. Great songs, and crazy sad ending. Its one the few muscials I truly love.

The movie is totally different than the stage version. Stage version is great in its own way, but it doesn't really have a story...and yes, they do come out naked for a few seconds. Its very short and so not a big deal.
