What I'm really finding hard to believe is that the online tabloids are not all over this. I checked PEREZHILTON, D-LISTED and LARAGMAG.

Wow.

Probably cuz there is no sordid back story by which they can ruin the Osmond name. No train wreck of Hos, no domestic violence, no closet sexuality, and no parent/child incest. Just plain old depression and drugs....not scintilating enough for some gossip hounds.

You're right.

Yeah i mean we have to start questioning ourselves, society, parenting etc.. if this many of youth are struggling with depressions. I mean im hearing alarming rates that almost half of kids in high school now are on something for depression, sleeping disorders, shyness??? i mean have we just gone fucking pill crazy?

the suicide note saying "not fitting in" implies an existing pressure to be a certain way... it's a lot of pressure on folks, even young straight white men.

it's especially hard on young people. They feel like they are the only ones who don't fit in, not realizing that we are ALL alone in this world and we all feel insecure & sad at times.

I can't quote numbers, but I have little doubt that suicide is more of an issue with kids of so-called privilege who can't really figure out why they are so sad when they have money and loving families. That makes sadness un-definable, and really difficult to deal with.

I am not saying that rich kids have it harder than poor kids, only that being well off comes with its own set of problems. When you're poor I think you can at least say "if only I had more money things could be different" whether that is true or not. When you have everything, and you're still sad, it seems like nothing could ever come along to make you happy, and that's when suicide creeps into the picture.

Well that reminds me of when Andy Gibb died and then were a bunch of reporters gathered around and the Gibb Brothers were going to do a press conference about the death, with was from a "Heart Disease" that was brought on from the years of doing drugs, before the conference started one reporter said to a group of others, "Bad news guys, natural causes, no O.D" very sad times and that was the late 80's!

maybe the world just plains sucks and that's why you see so many depressed people... hmmm

I suffer from depression and truthfully what bugs me more than anything is how difficult people have made living. with chronic stupidity, greed, and foolishness. If you really want to know why I've considered suicide, basically it's because sometimes I really just want to get away from all the BS on this planet. Trust....if there was an option to go to another planet filled with sensible people that didn't perpetuate war and treated money like it was the best thing ever and acted with common sense, I'd be there in a NY minute.

I strain my nerves daily trying to pretend that this world is in any way a wonderful place. Sure, I give all praise to God for all the beauty this world is and could me, but to see it being do willfully destroyed breaks my spirit. It is disgusting what human beings have done, even with all the good and the gains.....we are not going to have a planet if we don't get some global ackrite soon.
I agree with all of this. I've suffered from depression since I was 14.

The Osmonds are a family who tries to smile even as tragedy surrounds them, I don't get how they do it to be honest with you. My prayers go to Marie and 'em anyway. sad

Me either. There's a lot of strength and love there. Some families fall apart but I think this will unite them even more.

I've always liked Marie and all the Osmonds. I know this must be horrible for them.

Is Marie the only girl in that family? I never hear about a sister just all those brothers. She is the youngest?

I'm not sure but I think she is the only girl. The youngest is Jimmy. He used to make appearances on the "Donny and Marie Show" from time to time.
