No Way. Rated R is her best album to date, and even tho it doesnt have as many hits as GGGB, songs like Rockstar and Stupid in Love have potential as hit singles. Rude Boy is just startin to get off the ground. This aint Fantasy Ride, folks. The soonest is December.

How old r u because Rated R was hot mess. She was trying WAAAY too hard to be "gangsta n hard" on this album. She really did not put enough heart in this one either.

People need to stop being so damn obsessed with numbers... Idiots.

the whoever it is you work for isn't? why would a record label, an artist, a publisher, etc., be any less concerned about numbers than you and your employer are? numbers put dinner on your table. numbers mean you get to come back tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, next whatever, to keep going. i'm sure there are people out there who work or make music or whatever just for shits and giggles, but for 99.99999% of us, the numbers are the primary motivator.

well we're talking about Rihanna, so I'm not sure how quality got introduced into the conversation lol Rihanna is solely a "quantity" act.

I'll have to give "Rated R" another chance but I would be SHOCKED if she had a totally new album out this year, unless it was into the fourth quarter. I mean, I guess "Rated R" didn't do what they thought it would (did it really have any big singles....singles were always her deal while her sales were usually respectable). Even if this was coming from the record company, it would just be wishful thinking and hype to keep her name out there.

Well but the album is not doing that bad. Sure it didn't have a big opening week but it is close to 0,7m (US alone) and it is still in the Top 40 so it could well reach over a million if they just let it and yes it had hit singles ('Russian Roulette' #9 US, #2 UK, 'Hard' #8 US and 'Rude Boy' will be this week in the UK Top 5 and the US Top 10), And with 'Rude Boy' shaping to be the biggest hit from the album, its sales could very well explode now

I am really feeling 'rude boy' - i usually hate her music.

However i can't believe how many videos she has done in the last few months - I guess her label is really pushing for 'rated r' to be a hit.

To be honest Def Jam is scrambling to get her back in for a record, though this may be her better material, by far, the public doesnt want the 'darker" Rihanna and lets not forget, Rihanna is a brand that is being sold, so i think you will see a total 360 on a rushed album, pop/dance very lightwieght to regain lost revenue on this record

Exactly. And we can blame Beyonce's Sasha Fierce & Lady Gaga's illuminati-inspired gimmicks for this Dark Rhianna mess.

And WTF is going on with all of these black female artists shaving the side of their heads? Now I notice Mel B going down that dark path.

she's released so much music over the last 4 years. i think she needs to find her musical identity...

I´d put it this way.
