New RIHANNA Album due this summer

Neon Limelight and Johnny Ikon have both received exclusive word that our favourite pop princess Rihanna is NOT releasing a re-release this summer. Instead, she is starting a fresh with a brand new studio album! Rumours of a re-release had surfaced after both Ne-yo and David Guetta both came forward to say that they will be working on new music with the singer. Rihanna also spoke last week to MTV about wanting her new album to be more poppy, energetic and fun. It appears the singer is pretty much over 'Rated R’, with ‘Rude Boy’ believed to be the FINAL single from the project.

Rihanna was in a very dark place when she recorded ‘Rated R’ and the mood is reflected in the music. Now that she is over ‘the incident’, she wants to put out more ‘dance’-inspired music in the same formats of ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and ‘Disturbia’. She also wants to shred the dark music to go back to making go-happy upbeat pop songs like on ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’. And since she is working with Guetta, it looks like this is what we’ll be getting.

Apparently, the label are not happy with the massive investment they put in as they were expecting the project to pull in bigger numbers after her massive 20/20 interview. After she spilled the beans about Chris Brown and received the biggest promo campaign that mankind could give, first week sales and overall sales in the US did not match the hype, although ‘Rated R’ is doing brilliantly worldwide. The new album and tour is said to be taking priority after promotion ends. Another album this summer? Holy crap. Please don’t stop the music.

No Way. Rated R is her best album to date, and even tho it doesnt have as many hits as GGGB, songs like Rockstar and Stupid in Love have potential as hit singles. Rude Boy is just startin to get off the ground. This aint Fantasy Ride, folks. The soonest is December.

rated r isn't so bad. shrug "rude boy" has definitely grown on me.

she's released so much music over the last 4 years. i think she needs to find her musical identity...

Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R are her best albums to date. I do remember her saying she was in the studio working on new music, but most likely, it will be an EP (a la Lady GaGas Monster) with maybe 7 or 8 tracks.

To be honest Def Jam is scrambling to get her back in for a record, though this may be her better material, by far, the public doesnt want the 'darker" Rihanna and lets not forget, Rihanna is a brand that is being sold, so i think you will see a total 360 on a rushed album, pop/dance very lightwieght to regain lost revenue on this record

What's the rush?

I agree with lastdecember that Rihanna is a brand and with the right material she can jump back onto the charts. I suggest she leave Def Jam first and go with her master mentor's label. Being under Def Jam won't do her any good.

I'll have to give "Rated R" another chance but I would be SHOCKED if she had a totally new album out this year, unless it was into the fourth quarter. I mean, I guess "Rated R" didn't do what they thought it would (did it really have any big singles....singles were always her deal while her sales were usually respectable). Even if this was coming from the record company, it would just be wishful thinking and hype to keep her name out there.

i wonder if she was heading in the same direction on the follow up to "Good Girl.." before the incident, and maybe had some more upbeat songs that could be revisited for the new one.

The label wants people to forget her dark period.

Somehow I don't think it goes away that quickly.

Rude Boy is shaping up to be the biggest hit from the album, so I'm pretty sure there will be more singles on the way.

Me too! I don't give a fuck what anyone says, GGGB was a great pop record. I still blast 'Don't Stop the Music' and 'Disturbia' in my car.

Its a bottom line decision though with a label, you cannot rationalize judgements like this because we arent talking about a seasoned artist, Rihanna whether u like her or hate her think she makes great pop music or sucks, she is a brand, its how labels make the money and if they see a drop in sales they call meetings and say "What is going wrong with the brand" they arent interested in direction or anything but the bottom line of putting out a record and getting paid, regardless of who is selling the product. So this is where the crossroads start, if you are Rihanna and it starts slowing down for you to do what they want, go softer more pop, or maybe do what you want, i think we can all at least agree that its not really her call in direction at this point.

The Image of the Best and a symbol of the Illuminati.

These celebrities are just Slaves. And you think with all the fame and money, they would be so content. All of them look miserable and unhappy. And one thing i noticed the worst ones like Rihanna, Britney and Beyonce are AIRHEADS.

Well but the album is not doing that bad. Sure it didn't have a big opening week but it is close to 0,7m (US alone) and it is still in the Top 40 so it could well reach over a million if they just let it and yes it had hit singles ('Russian Roulette' #9 US, #2 UK, 'Hard' #8 US and 'Rude Boy' will be this week in the UK Top 5 and the US Top 10), And with 'Rude Boy' shaping to be the biggest hit from the album, its sales could very well explode now

Music of the Sun (2005)
A Girl Like Me (2006)
Good Girl Gone Bad (2007)
Rated R (2009)

....so actually this would be par for the course to put out yearly albums
