Sting Orchestra Tour

February 25, 2010

Sting will embark on a world tour this summer with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, according to an announcement on February 23. The tour begins in early June with shows throughout the US and Canada, followed by performances in the UK and continental Europe.

The tour will see Sting perform his best-known songs in orchestra arrangement, including Police songs "Roxanne," "Next To You," "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" and "Every Breath You Take," plus songs from the artist's solo career: "Englishman in New York," "Fragile," "Russians," "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You," "Fields of Gold," and "Desert Rose."

The first four tour dates have so far been confirmed, beginning June 2 in Vancouver and continuing on to Denver, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

According to the official announcement, the tour will also include visits to New York, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, Toronto, and Montreal, followed by performances throughout the UK and Europe.

First four tour dates:

June 2 - Vancouver Centre For the Performing Arts, Vancouver, BC, Canada
June 9 - Denver Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater, Denver, Colorado, USA
June 15 - Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, California, USA
July 17/18 - Chicago Ravinia Festival, Chicago, Illinois, USA

Ticket for the first three concerts go on sale March 8, while Ravinia Festival tickets will be available starting April 22.

Singer, musician, and songwriter Sting has won 16 Grammy Awards and sold nearly 100 million records worldwide, first as a member of The Police and then as a solo artist.

He has explored classical music crossovers with his albums Songs from the Labyrinth (2006) and If On A Winter's Night... (2009), and has also collaborated with the Chicago Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
