This one should be interesting.Lead singer Gwen Dickey left the band in 1980 and never looked back. Her departure was a mystery and never explained.Maybe now we will get the real story. Stacy Lattisaw
Her story also promises to be interesting. She was engaged to Johnny Gill at one point. In 1990,she left secular music to concentrate on gospel music.

Did Gwen Dickey leave the biz when she left the band? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

The hell it is. Their research is paper thin. The bulk of the info can be found with a quick google search or wiki read. Truly disappointed in how low the quality of these shows are. My people deserve better. Errr.... Space for sale...

I'm still waiting for a Tammi Terrell documentary
I'm also waiting for (not necessarily Unsung) but a documentary about Post-Motown Detroit music scene, the great musicians who were schooled by the Funk Brothers (Nathan Watts, Ollie Brown, Ray Parker), the artists that came up when Motown left (One Way, Anita Baker, Winans), local Detroit show The Scene, Black new wave/techno, and the tragic stories of course (CL Franklin, T-Boy Ross).

One Way were artist on the MCA label and well established, before MCA purchased Motown in '88.

I don't know about that lineup. I mean I don't really know anything about Stacy Lattisaw, so i'll be watching that. I might watch the Sylvester one, but like someone said, one on Tammi Terrell would had been interesting. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Isn't this the first time they have done a lineup w/out a Motown artist being featured?
TD3, why won't the Sylvers do Unsung? It could totally revive interest in them. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

The Bar-Kays could be great, if they cover both the original members before the plane crash and post members. The Stax and Mercury years.. up 'til producer Allen Jones death.

THey've been asked if that's the prevailing view of the family.. I think it is. As I've thought from the beginning, I'm sure UnSung have asked some and have been turned down, for a host of reasons. Oh well.

Don't know much about Rose Royce but i'm looking forward to learning about them. I love this show! I'll watch pretty much anyone they feature. Can't wait for the Stacy Lattisaw and Bar-Kays episodes!

From the standpoint of his rise to fame until his untimely death, it should be an interesting story. I just never could get into his disco themed music. Don't laugh at my funk

My people deserve better. Errr.... I can see your point but saying the research is paper thin is a little extreme. SSome episodes are definitely better than others. Sometimes it's not necessarily about uncovering all the unknown tidits, but bringing paper facts "to life" and putting the faces behind the stories out there. Dyes Got the Answers 2 Ur ?s

I did know she left secular music for gospel but never heard any of her output. The last secular thing i remember her doing is Where Do We Go From Here with Johnny. Don't laugh at my funk

Oh well. Yeah, I became friendly with someone VERY close to their family, let's just say you won't be seeing them do any documentaries, They would make DeBarge look like the Osmond family. Real talented family though, pretty sad
