So I've decided to explore...

the nuances that are The Thin White Duke.

That's right!! David Bowie, who I have recently found far too little about...

Give me a run down of THE.ESSENTIAL.BOWIE. I want the must haves, the OMFG you've never heard this!!! the b-sides...

just a track listing would be nice and maybe a brief description of why you like these tracks (if you're so inclined...)

Thanks orgers!! hug

Anxiety's a Bowie nut, he's probably the best person here to addvise you (if he's still here)

Hard to know where to start - probably best thing to do is get a greatest hits package and see what takes your fancy. There's a lot of different sides to him...

For my money, the best Bowie albums are Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, and Aladdin Sane, his glam albums. Good tunes, great melodies, kind of rock-meets-Cabaret, all sung in a pronounced Brit accent (that may grate if your not from here)

After that came Diamond Dogs and Young Americans, where he incorporated soul/funk influences and sung in a more American accent

Then he did his "Berlin Trilogy", "Heroes", Low, and Lodger - experimental, electronic, cool.

Scary Monsters from 1980 (i think) set an agenda for the decade with good tunes synthed up, big influence on the New Romantic movement (and Prince around Purple Rain - at least, it sounds like it).

Big shiney 80's pop with "Let's Dance"

IMO, everything since has been, well, shit, though there are many that would disagree

thumbs up!
