She's actually in a better position than most fading pop artists. She has acting to fall back on.She has credibility as an actress.

the no touring thing can definitely can hurt an artist. and i'm still mad because she/they cancelled the show in my area.

i'm jusy saying if decline in sales equates to no talent then let's count the people who should also fit in that catagory

prince
madonna
janet jackson
mariah carey
george michael

*cough*DonnaSummer*cough*

etc....

giggle wink

so what's the status of her recoding career? Is she getting ready to sign elsewhere? Has her new CD been cancelled?

i'm going to call her up in a few and get back to you. lol

i don't know. like a few have mentioned, maybe she's shopping around for a new label or getting offers from others. whatever happens, they had better release the album.

i think a hits tour would be a good idea though. and could help with promo/sales of the new album. or just release a greatest hits 2 disc set with the second being a new album. shrug

Well thats just it, i mean we can all debate sales and talent and this and that till the end of time, but its all bottom line, money in and money out, what can we make on you and what cant we. Labels are not signing the best singers or the best writers, etc...how can anyone think that a label is making "talent" decisions in this day in age. Now this whole issue is beyond JLO cause we have seen various _____dropped from _____ posts and quite honestly, its all bullshit at this point. The Jayhawks were dropped by 4 different labels in their 20 year career, and they were the best thing out of minneapolis next to Prince, voted the one of the best bands of the last 25 years. So the talent theory is shot right there in one example, but we all, whether we want to admit or want to play it off, that this example happens all the time now. With the exception of a few one-off labels like a "lost Highway" no label, for the most part, WILL take a loss on an artist, meaning invest in them early on and get something back. Ryan Adams is one artist that was a "loss" for most of his recording, YES the label lost money on him album after album, but he has a steady following, its just not a "Cash cow" type artist, and most of time its a slight loss in money, but the label knows its got one of the most talented artists in the last 20 years and doesnt really care short term for the loss, if long term they have him signed because it looks like you care about "talent".

So please spare me on this whole, you got talent or you suck because you got dropped blah blah blah bullshit, thats a weak case to make. You being dropped from a label has nothing to do with talent. BMG dropped Katharine Mcphee and she sold 450,000 albums out the box, for NO IVESTMENT, but they got what they wanted and let her go because bmg could care less about her voice, the investment in what she wants to do and is doing now, is not what they want at their label, plain and simple, your talent means nothing, or YOUR LACK off talent, can u make me cash??? your signed.

I mean if i had a label and wanted to do nothing but make money, i would have Kim Kardashian making music cause it would sell in a second, and it would cost nothing to make, win win situation, thats how they think, SO if she gets signed does that mean that she has "talent".

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I like JLo she can't sing worth shit! I have NEVER bought an album, but her songs on the radio stick in my head and I find myself singing her songs.

The media likes JLO for some odd reason; I think she will bounce back like a cat with nine lives. lol

you guys are misunderstanding what i'm saying.

i'm talking about if a decline in record sales equals no talent then yes they should be included. this is not my opinion, i'm basing it off what people are implying to make a point. all those artists i mentioned did have a decline in their sales.

you know damn well i love Janet Jackson and that Purple Leprechaun (but him not as much anymore lol). nod

For the record,I never said anything about J-Lo's talent or declining album sales.I simply said that her time is up.If she were to release a new CD right now,it would bomb. Some artists will have long-lasting music careers and some won't.I would argue that Madonna and Donna Summer have both managed to maintain long-lasting careers. But to her credit,J-Lo has an acting career that seems to be going well. She could always focus on that.
