I'm always amazed at how resentive some Janet Jackson fans are against Michael Jackson. How in the world can anyone denigrate MJ's superlative skills and image just to uplift his own sister over him, when she studied and followed HIS styles? All of her little life during the 70s, she was looking at Michael Jackson performing in front of their brothers, and all the while learning how to become a lead, solo, dancing singer herself. We know who Michael studied (James, Sammy, Jackie, Fred, Gene, Diana, etc). But who has Janet ever said were her inspirations as a musical performer besides MJ? Almost everything he did solo, she eventually did solo, and that wouldn't have happened if she hadn't been watching him.

I appreciate her work as an artist who demonstrated that girls/women can dance onstage just as powerful and strong as men. But people actually think the highly successful, military, choreography-driven images she created for herself would have happened if MJ did not exist? I HIGHLY doubt that.

I've been a member on a few Janet forums and although many members are completely one-dimensional and disillusioned, they have been very complimentary towards Janet's brother. I can't say the same for MJ fans who tend to think Janet should be forever indebted to Michael for her success.
