Hi Harlepolis Hope you are well. Not sure if this helps, but here is the Wiki page that lists the album's personnel. It doesn't say who is playing what though. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...eld_album) I'm not at home right now but I have this album. Maybe it will say which players played which instruments on the album itself. I'll check tonight if no one responds before I get home. This album and Roots, (the two before Superfly), are both so good it is crazy how unrecognized they are today for their sheer genius!!!!

I'm checking the wiki, discogs and allmusic pages, but none of them really have any info about the musicians, it just say "musician" for each name.
Come to think of it, I've always been curious about that piano player for the LONGEST, its just happens that nowadays I'm stubborn to know who he is Thank you, though

Not that I really helped yet! Albums from the early 70s usually didn't list player credits, but many of the folks associated with classic album reissues try to correct that by providing research/insight into those details. Almost all of Marvin Gaye's album reissues have been wonderful in that regard. And I'm like you, when I hear some tasty playing, I REALLY want to know who the person was performing on the track I'll check tonight and get back to you.

He was the musical director for 'Children of Black Persuasion' and its adult counterpart 'Voices of Black Persuasion'. In later years Ross taught, wrote music for commissioned projects, and was apart of music fellowships at several universities. It's my understanding Ross was a sought after music arranger, he played tenor sax too. Patrick Ferreri was a session play on that album and happens to be my guitar teacher. I called him up yesterday to make sure it was Ross who played piano on "We People Who Are Darker Than Blue". Pat filled me in on all the rest. ===== [Edited 2/20/10 5:55am]
