Courtney Love is eyeing a 2010 comeback for her Grammy-nominated alt-rock outfit Hole, which will return to the stage next month.

Love ushered in the New Year with the launch of a promotional website for Hole's long-awaited album "Nobody's Daughter," which features an instrumental snippet from the forthcoming set. http://nobodysdaughter.com/nbd/

A specific street date for the album--the release of which has been postponed numerous times since an originally expected February of 2007 unveiling--has not yet been announced.

Exclusive: Courtney Love on Hole Revival

Good news for Courtney Love fans: Not only has the alt-rock queen revived her band Hole to release her long-awaited album 'Nobody's Daughter' this spring, she just announced the group's first live concerts in 11 years!

Love, who reformed Hole with three new members, will return to the stage Feb. 17 at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire with her 23-year-old songwriting partner and guitarist Micko Larkin, plus bassist Shawn Dailey and drummer Stu Fischer. The quartet will play two other European shows: Milan on Feb. 19 and Amsterdam on Feb. 21.

So why, exactly, did Love revive Hole after all these years? "I don't function well without a real band," she told SPIN in an exclusive interview.

But her decision isn't without its critics. Fans have lambasted the Hole reformation online, citing the absence of original guitarist Eric Erlandson and bassist Melissa Auf der Maur.

"Nobody asks Trent: why Nine Inch Nails?" says Love, referencing industrial-rock vet Trent Reznor, NIN's only permanent member, who, up until his band's final concert in September, assembled assorted musicians to tour and record. "I made the [band] name up," adds Love.

Love prepared for the three February gigs with a private solo acoustic concert in New York City on New Year's Eve.

I don't see the big deal about using the same name. That might be bad is if she was just going out and singing the old songs, but she is writing new songs as well.

Courtney Love Defends Using 'Hole' Name For New Album

Courtney Love has defended using the band name Hole for her forthcoming album 'Nobody's Daughter'.

The singer/guitarist recorded the LP with former Larrikin Love guitarist Micko Larkin, but without any of the former Hole members.

Founding member Eric Erlandson said last year that Hole would not be able to exist without his involvement. However, Love said she was persevering with using the moniker.

The last album to come out under the Hole name was 1998's 'Celebrity Skin'. In 2004, Love released the lbum 'America's Sweetheart' under her own name.

"It is Hole, yes of course," she said. "How do I do this? It is just because it is, and it is because we just negotiated our thing and it'll be fine. Everyone has good lawyers."

Love hinted that she and Erlandson may have come to a financial arrangement with regards to the name. "I don't want to slam him Erlandson," she said. "I'm a big sharer. Inside the business I am not known for being a stinge, for sure. I'm not stingy in any way, I give a lot of publishing to everyone."

Courtney Love Talks Tour, Style and Lady Gaga

As she recently announced, Courtney Love will be getting on stage in 2010 in support of her forthcoming album, 'Nobody's Daughter,' playing with a new incarnation of her '90s grunge band Hole at NME's Shockwaves Festival next month, followed by several European dates. Coming back into the spotlight has meant Love has been opening up a lot recently -- she talked to Spinner about friends, fame and "the Courtney Monster" in January.

More recently, she sat down with StyleList to talk about the elaborate makeup she'll be wearing on tour, but the conversation naturally turned to music, too.

As she underwent a transformation at the hands of Make Up For Ever at their studios in New York, Love observed that her style has certainly changed since the early '90s. "One time Marilyn Manson said to me, in like, I don't know '99 or something, 'You can come to my Halloween party if you dress as old you," Love said. "I realized there's been a demarcation between, like, black eyes and smeary red lips [and the more glam, polished image she developed after that] and that had become associated with my look."

Reminiscent of the elaborate on-stage looks of Lady Gaga, Love got decked out in enormous false eyelashes, purple eyeliner and dark red lips. At the mention of the pop sensation, Love said at first she "wasn't sure" about Gaga.

But Love, who calls Elton John a friend, became a convert after watching his Grammy duet with the singer, and says she's only heard good things about her from mutual friend, photographer David LaChapelle. "[H]e loves her," Love says. "He really helped legitimize her by doing a Rolling Stone cover. He came in like, 'I met this girl and I love her, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body.'"

"She did something the other night," Love added, referring to the Grammy performance, "and I was like, you know what honey, take the cake, seriously."

But Love admits she's not a huge fan of Gaga's music. "I don't think her music is that compelling, but that's cause I listen to rock music. I'm an old hippie. You know what I listened to last night? Stevie [bleeping] Nicks."

Courtney Love and Hole Debut “Nobody’s Daughter” in London

Courtney Love took the stage last night at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, marking the first time in over 11 years that she has performed under the “Hole” moniker. Love’s comeback featured a mix of old favorites alongside new cuts from Hole’s upcoming Nobody’s Daughter, the long-in-the-works album that will finally be released on April 27th on Mercury/Island Def Jam, Rolling Stone reported.

We’ve come to expect plenty of controversy from Love-related events in recent years — even Hole’s concert last week in London was canceled when a squat riot broke out in Love’s neighborhood — but according to the U.K. press in attendance, the comeback show was successful and drama-free. The Times Online called the performance a “brash but well-drilled show,” though they felt this “Hole” was too similar to the backing band that Love had behind her when she played a solo show in London in 2007.
