This is my FAVORITE video by Jody. It was so funky and cool when it came out and it still is. As a young girl, I wanted to be Jody after seeing this video! They served it. I usually watch the remix video, too, but this is my favorite.

Jody.....always top shelf in the style department.

Worthy of note.....Andre during this period (as writer & producer)...never got his props, IMHO. Nice work.....the whole "Larger Than Life" album, too.

What a juicy piece of Minneapolis funk. I remember people dancin their ass off to this back in the day. Great artist and killer track.

I've never seen that. It's like Janet Jackson circa 1814 invaded The Witches of Eastwick. hahaha

Never realized there was a video for it. Totally agree with the comments no it being a very good example of Minn, Funk as well as the video being a combo of RN1814 and "Witches of Eastwick". She is beautiful and talented but in the video department, not always the most memorable.

Andre's guitar and bass and keys on this song as well as the rest of this album should be subtitled Here's lookin at U Prince....lol

I think what people dont give credit too, is the fact that this was the sound of the day, and sorry to say, and i know people will cry over it, it was the reason Janet got "Control" recognized, it was the right choice of direction at the right time, not so much about the material, which was stellar too, but alot of Stellar material goes unnoticed as we all know

I was about to say that! She copied Janet a lot once Control blew up. Well, a lot of the female artists at the time did.

Jody's great. Have no idea why people are babbling on about her copying Janet when she actually wasn't. Just because you have a curly black weave doesn't mean you are ripping of Janet. Jody's sound on her debut was both poppier/dancier (Most of All, Don't You Want Me, Some Kind of Lover) and funkier (Still a Thrill, Looking For a New Love) than Control. She had a sound of her own.

She started off as a soul train dancer, Then turned that into singing in a very successful crossover group Shalamar...Then went on to have two very successful albums as a solo artist. I'm just pointing out that Janet help open the door for her and a million other singer/dancer type artist. Janet was the trendsetter and needs to be credited for that and not forgotten...

Her self-titled album was a complete rip-off of Control and her label really did push her to be the next Janet. She was a part of a formula. So no she never had her own sound or style.

Jody was dope! This happens to be one of my favorites from her. I've always loved her lower register on it. Very funky joint! Andre was on fire with his production. To this day, I still can't decide which song I love more this or "Don't You Want Me."

Oh, her fashion sense was bananas too!

Reason why she had Andre Cymone (From the whole Minneapolis funk movement) produce her album. Janet started it and she followed. It's no shade. Just the honest truth. Beyonce now is basically how Janet was in late 80's and 90's. Where's Ashanti? Ciara? Amerie? Christina Millian?
