Updated: Mariah's Remix Album Cancelled

Previous postings: http://prince.org/msg/8/324995

February 16, 2010

With the release of Mariah Carey’s remix LP ‘Angel’s Advocate’ drawing nearer, the diva’s label Island Def Jam have announced that the release will NOT be available in all retail outlets. Instead, the record will be released as an exclusive to retailer Target:

Mariah has completed her 13th studio album, Angels Advocate, a collection of newly remixed duets with some of her favorite artists, performing Mariah’s favorite songs from her #1 R&B album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (released September 2009). Angels Advocate, on Island Records, will be available March 30 exclusively at Target stores nationwide, iTunes.com/target and Target.com.

Featured duet partners with Mariah on Angels Advocate include: Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, R. Kelly, The-Dream & Ludacris, T-Pain & Snoop Dogg, Akon, Trey Songz, K-Ci & Jo Jo, and OJ Da Juiceman & OutKast’s Big Boi.

I dont care what she does Im done with her and Im NOT buying that mess. I love her and have supported her long enough, I am not buying this just like I did not buy the last album, I went and downloaded it. If she want me to buy something worthwhile then she better come with product. Too through with that chile.

To be honest though it will be very lucrative for her and its smart. Remix albums dont move anymore, but this will do the business with her loyals, and plus Target pays you up front for it and thats not like a label deal, its alot more $$$ so even if this moves only 100,000 MC will taking in a million at least

Its also smart because most of this record is already leaked and was about 2 months ago

Now that it's being sold exclusively at Target, target I wouldn't be surprised if they use part of Mariah's video in a commercial and superimpose their logo on it.

Isn't a remix album different from a studio album? Am I the crazy one here?

Signing with Target alone made her money, regardless of how much or little this remix sells and how many threads we see on it not selling, she got the check already, thats the beauty of exclusives, if it sells or not, you got your check

I highly doubt that because Nicki's and because Universal probably doesn't want to overexpose her right now...

I dont give a cotton pickin about how much money she's going to put in her pocket, what Im saying is that her musical credibility is falling in the short bus department right now and I'm not falling for this mockery. How dare she thinks Im that stupid to fall for this? Fuck the money who gives a fuck about that.

I still say she should have cut her losses and got the hell up out of Def Jam Records.

I mean she is eye candy to me now, musically i cant get into to her till she gives up on "charting" and getting played, but she is never gonna do that "IT" album when she says "screw the lambs"

I mean she cant do 'sexy" videos, its amazing with her "assets" she comes off "clown like" if i was directing forget it, Brett and the others she uses are nothing more than "yes yes yes" to her 24/7 and that husband of her's lets not get started on his direction in videos

I would jump for joy if she elected to do something bold, like an album of Gamble & Huff original compositions.

Yeah, I dont have a need to even go back and listen to any of the tracks off of both of the last albums...very sad...I want to, but I felt like I have got everything I had to hear from it already....not alot of depth or feeling in most of the tunes since TEOM. I still happily sing to Circles / Mine Again....to this day. I stop what Im doing and put my hand and my wine in the air and say "dis ma SAWNG"... lol
