News: Akon On Saving Lady Gaga's Career, "When I Closed My Deal At Interscope, She Was Getting Dropped That Week

Konvict Muzik labelhead Akon has revealed how he helped save Grammy-winning pop star Lady Gaga's career when she was on the verge of being dropped from her record deal.

According to the rapper/singer, Gaga is helping break the barrier between pop and rap music.

"I think what everybody else didn't," Akon said about Gaga. "She had went through like four or five labels. When I closed my deal at Interscope, she was getting dropped that week ... they was dropping her again. I was like 'Yo, I wanna sign that right there.' Jimmy [Iovine] was like 'Yeah, whatever you want, take her. Let's get it done.' She's blossomed into a super-mega star. She's pretty much retired me. She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I'm glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show, if you believe in something good -- it will pay off." (Associated Press)

Colby O'Donnis.

What people don't know is so many people are feeding off of GaGa. She's literally signed to about 3 or 4 different managements, and Akon's is one of them. They're milking her for everything.

But thats the deal on everything nowadays, find one thing, milk the shit out of it, not that the concept of "miliking" hasnt been done, its just now, everyone i mean everyone does the same thing, the market for music is so broad but what is fed and "makes money" is so small, i mean, there are a few blueprints to go by now and thats it, everyone now is going to do something with gaga, just like everyone did something with the neptunes or timbaland or justin or akon etc...its just milk it milk it till its dead and gone. And the scary thing is this all over one damn record, i mean they are talking about her as if they are on album five with her or something.

GaGa is one of the best things thats happened to the industry, so they're giving her all the praise. These artists out now dont't even get half the acknowledgment GaGa gets

Most artists are signed to multiple managements.

But it may seem like good marketing at this point but artistically for her its going to lead to "the backlash" and it is coming, its more evident now because the mainstream right now is about 3-5 artists, so its the same concept thrown at you 24/7, wonder what the next thing to milk will be

It depends who you are. more established acts are not, they usually begin to part ways with managers because of having an album that sells millions and an empty bank account

There's a major underlying hint of him using her for the cash by saying she retired him... How obvious can it be to GaGa that she needs to get rid of everyone who wants a piece of her lol

Okay, so now that she blew up, here he comes talking about how he saved her career and believes in her and all of that....
If he really believed in her like he claims, why wasn't he saying all this before and when she first came out? talk to the hand Fakeness. Keep it. However, you can give me more Gaga.

Eh.. some of you neutral

Akon didn't meet Gaga till she was under Interscope working on one of his own songs. It's not like she blew up and then he signed her.
