"Love Will Find A Way" - Lionel Richie

A lot of people diss Lionel and his solo work around here, but this is a masterpiece. This is my favorite song of his solo years.

Me too! I was looking for the "demo" version to post, but can't find it. I love the keyboard solo in it.

I'd have to agree with that.
Part of its appeal (track wise) has to be the Greg Phillinganes element.
(Not to mention all the other great session players on the album)

I haven't seen liner notes on this album in years. Totally forgot about Greg being on it. It just takes me back to a great time in my life not to mention it's just well composed.

I think most people just diss his third album on. I can't really
recall anyone dissing this particular song. This is a nice song
but then his latter work was just plain sappy pop with no soul.

This song is a CLASSIC! music It's the best song on 'Can't Slow Down'.Soulfully rich and hypnotic,it sounds soooo different from the other songs on that album. It sounds like something you'd expect from Frankie Beverly and Maze.Although never released as a single,it's become a staple on Quiet Storm stations.

I think he found a knack for appealing to a mainstream Adult Contemporary audience. To me, all of his albums have some really good songs on them (from Louder Than Words through present). Soul or no soul, I love me some Lionel.

I like the lyrics to his songs, beautiful compositions. Are you feeling down, and lonely.
Feeling like you can't go on.
Just remember love will find a way.

Tell me are you going through changes.
Time seems like it's passing by.
Just believe that love will find a way.

(bridge)
I see the tears you cry.
I see the pain that's in your eyes.
So many times you were so lonely.
And no one seemed to care.
But if your hopes, for your tomorrows.
Are drowning in your sorrows.
Know your heart will show you the way.

Are you trying to find a beginning.
Or something just to hold on to.
Always know that love will find a way.

Is it hard this life you're living.
Does the world seem so unkind.
Don't you worry love will find a way.

(bridge)
Some say we've lost, our way.
Some say the world has gone astray.
But if you know where you're going.
There's nothing you can't do.
'Cause problems will come.
And they will leave you.
The world will try to deceive you.
But the truth will always be in your soul.

Just beautiful..

I agree the song DOTC is horrible, but on the same album he gave us this soulful classic:

Louder than Words wasn't that bad. I didn't like the Time album at
all. I think he later did an album for Island/Def Jam that fell on deaf ears.
I admit i like I call it Love but the rest of the album was meh.
I refuse to discuss that Just Go garbage album. lol

I will admit that I didn't like "Time" at first, but I took a road trip and played the cd. I then realized the genius of that album. It is a very emotional album. It seems to be about the breakup of he and Brenda in a lot of places. I love the title track.

I also loved "I Hear Your Voice"

I used to have the 'Dancing On The Ceiling' CD but I got rid of it lol Lionel sorta lost me with that album.I liked only one song on it ("Love Will Conquer All",which is a rip-off of the superior "Love Will Find A Way").

I got rid of mine too with the quickness to a soccer mom. I did
like a few songs from Louder than Words as he made an attempt to
get back to his r&b roots but most of his solo work after Can't Slow
Down has been a snooze.

I don't know why Lionel gets a bad rap as a solo artist. It's stupid and short-minded. He still wrote great songs, and had huge hits. He left Commodores at the right time. No one ever disparaged MJ or George Michael for leaving their respective groups. Why does LR get such a bad time of it from fans?

I love this song, and the Dancing On The Ceiling album was even better than Can't Slow Down. The bonus track of "Night Train (Smooth Alligator)" reminds me of Sheila E.'s "Love On A Blue Train".
