Nelly Furtado Announces New English-Language Album

December 30, 2009

The new year is still a couple days away, but Nelly Furtado has already given us something to look forward to in 2010. The pop star has announced a release date for her fourth English album.

The follow-up to 2006’s multi-platinum Loose will be released on May 25, 2010, according to the singer. “Ahh.. 2010 …Can’t wait for my spring Ml PLAN tour, and my brand new english album release on May 25th, 2010!!!!!” she tweeted.

Furtado issued her first Spanish album Mi Plan in September and collaborated with Timbaland on “Morning After Dark” from his Shock Value II album. She is already working with the producer on material for her next effort.

“Timbaland and I hooked up over spring break and we wrote about 10 songs together and we had a blast,” she told The Associated Press earlier this year.

Loose was an great pop CD. I loved it. "Say it Right" was the jam that year, and there were other wonderful tracks from that CD, too.

Thanks the lords of Kobol that it's not her Portuguese album. As a Portuguese myself, Nelly's portuguese is a joke. She's in fact a major joke subject here in Portugal. confused

I don't like Timbaland. wink

Nelly's musical tastes I thought were more exotic than that. She's been stuck in that Missy Elliot mode since "Get Yo Freak On". lol

Loose is a modern day CLASSIC ! Timbaland created a new sound at the time and ran the music charts for 2 years. I am looking forward to hearing what they have cooked up. I hope Timbaland goes more tribal with his sound

Yeah he cannot continue that sound again that he had for Loose. There has to be something different and new with this one...something that pertains alot to her sound.

Although his production on "Showtime" was incredible...he didnt do anything liek that again for anyone else since...maybe "Slow Dance" for Keri Hilson came close although that was more an Aaliyah track than anything. But he does have the ability to branch out when need be like his sound for Bjork's "Earth Intuders" and "Innocence".

He said he was going into more African styles early last year, but as we can see that never surfaced.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Nelly Performs in Miami

February 20, 2010

Nelly Furtado worked up a sweat, performing at a private concert at The Fillmore Miami Beach in Miami, Fla., on Friday night (Feb. 19). The singer, who kicks off her Mi Plan Latin American tour on March 16 in Guadalajara, Mexico, is finishing up her fifth album, expected to be released in May.

Early collaborations include Timbaland, who executive produced 2006’s smash Loose, and Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas, Fugees). The multi-platinum album debuted at No. 1 and spawned the hit singles “Promiscuous,” “Maneater,” and “Say It Right.”
