Oh my gosh, that was the most craptastic performance I've ever seen. Where to begin?

Well kids, if you think a lifetime of smoking is going to improve your voice, I give you Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend (or is it Townshend? Who cares?) as proof that it RUINS it. You young 'uns might not believe this, but Roger Daltrey probably had the best voice in rock music - ever. I've never been a Who fan, but that cat had THE voice.

And now - ugh. Tobacco done cooked their vocal chords. That was so bad, so very, very bad. They sounded like wounded cats. My ears hurt.

Almost as bad as the singing was Townsend's playing. He screwed up EVERY song, but his work on "Won't Get Fooled Again" was just horrendous. I have no idea what happened to him but right now, there are 1,498 garage bands in Houston that could have played that set better than Townsend and the Who did.

Ringo's kid was OK on drums. But he could have been the second coming of John Blackwell and with the crap played/sung in front of him, it wouldn't have mattered.

The stage sucked. I mean, it SUCKED. There were no good views of it, and it seemed hard for the cameramen to get in any position for a good shot. They ought to put a hold on the check of whoever designed it.

All in all, there was one clear winner in this debacle - modern pop and country artists.

'Cause if the Who represent what to expect from aging rock acts, then say hello to Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and maybe even Justin Bieber next year.

The stage was the only thing I liked about the performance. lol

I was anticipating that Pete would break his guitar at the end of the performance. And I was surprise that he didn't do it.

I liked the stage itself. It's just who was on it that I didn't care for. The stage sort of reminded me of George Michael's stage, in the regard that it was interactive with what was being played. Another interesting note, that there wasn't an "audience" around the stage this time. But then again, who needs to be that close to Roger and Pete anyway?

I'll take ancient has-been legends (that includes Prince, you know) over that mess they used to put on there where 15 different acts would play a two-song medley all at the same time with feathers and balloon animals and shit flying everywhere.

The Who was very mediocre. Not the worst thing ever, but far form the best.

By the end I thought they worked out some of the rough spots, but the vocals were awful in the beginning.

They would have been an incredible choice for this in 1975, but I wonder why we can't have people in the prime of their careers? Is it because we don't have any good performers in the prime of their careers anymore? lol

Still better than Janet & Justin, whose controversy mercifully eclipsed the crappiness of the actual performance. That entire show, with Kid Rock & Ll was the worst I can remember. I will take a dull McCartney or rough Bruce performance any day of that.

I LOVED THAT! I remember that one. My friend Gale and I ran to Burger King before halftime to get $1 whoppers. We sat in my living room floor at the coffee table, and ate and watched the show. Fun evening.

I actually believe that George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic complete with Bootsy Collins would actually be an entertaining half time show.

What about Stevie Wonder, or the Isley Brothers (shouldn't Ron be out of jail soon?)?

Stevie has done it, but only as part of one of the older multi-artist lineups. He played Sir Duke, I believe with some ska band. He'd be great, still if he got his own halftime show.

U2 would be good. I guess maybe they already did it? I don't remember I know they did the NBA Finals.

I think U2 did it a few years ago (if I'm not mistaken). I think Stevie would be a good choice.

The Isley's aren't popular enough to do the half-time show. (BTW, Ron is out of jail).

I agree, but I don't necessarily think that should be true. Them doing Who's that Lady, It's Your Thing, Fight the Power would certainly be as good as the Who was.

I think the superbowl shouldn't be limited to mainstream legends, it should be limited to people who can blow you away for 15 minutes. I guess that's a small group of individuals, unfortunately.

I know. Even though I was being sarcastic, I was secretly hoping they would do something shocking, but they didnt. Where's Keith Moon when you need him???

Yes U2 did perform a superbowl halftime show a few years ago. I think they had a heart shaped stage I believe confuse If not, the stage was definitely red, I do remember that much and they were pretty good too.
